Have you lost anyone to cancer? If you had, you might be able to comprehend why your references might trigger some people

Okay so my uncle committed suicide, but if I got all bent out of shape every time someone said “if I have to ___________ one more time, I’m going to jump off a bridge.” then I think I’d be being a little ridiculous. And so is anyone who has lost someone to cancer. If you’re crippled by a joke involving the word cancer just because you lost someone to cancer, then you’ve got quite the fragile psyche. I guess we should just ban the word cancer so that people don’t get all triggered. We should probably never talk about stingrays so that Steve Irwin’s family doesn’t get upset. We also can’t talk about car wrecks anymore cause Paul walkers friends might get a little upset. And we may want to lay off the aids jokes because Freddy Mercury fans might have our heads. It’s more like you’re reaching for something to be snobby about, I don’t think you’re really trying to be constructive at this point.

Do you think you're being constructive? So your coward uncle chose to take his own life. That was HIS choice. People with cancer don't choose to have cancer, do I really need to explain that to you? I'm not particularly bothered when people talk about cancer but your poor attempt to make light of it isn't at all funny and quite incentive. Do you really think it's for you to joke about when you've never had the misfortune to lose a loved one that way? You and your post just aren't funny or clever. Stop trying to be and stop trying to justify your mistake

I made no mistake and I’d make the joke again. So you can let cancer beat you or you can get over it like the rest of the world. We can’t go around policing what can and can’t be joked about, or one day everything is going to end up being something touchy for someone. You’re getting way too triggered by a joke, and I can’t help but think it’s because you just want some validation or you just need an opportunity to feel like you corrected someone.
