The Colony - everyone cried nerf until they figured out how to counter/avoid it. No need to do this with sleeper!!!
When the invader spawns - stop fighting the primeevil and kill that player!!! I went up against some better teams tonight and got slayed pretty quickly when they were looking for me.
If you have motes, run and hide, and keep moving... and hiding!!
Group together for Christ sake - the invader has an over shield so you need to work together to kill him/her!
The sleeper is incredibly powerful, but it doesn't ruin the game!!

Edited by PR4X1S: 9/19/2018 3:14:44 AMThousands out there agree with u guardian, but bungie always choose the easy route, the one that involves swinging that Nerf hammer. All they really needed to do was remove player tracking, but no we get another Nerf.

Except you can't hide from invaders. They basically have true sight on you.
-
You aren’t hiding. You’re limiting the number of directions you can take fire from, and funneling them into chokepoints that act as killboxes if they push you. You have to think tactically. You aren’t hiding. You’re taking cover and defending yourself.

Exactly!
-
You can still avoid them, run away, or protect your mote holders when invaded. Problem is players are still playing PVE when the game has basically changed to PVP. Hunt that invader down!!!
-
That's easy to say if you are in a team with good coordination. Most people play solo man, they don't have that kind of communication.
-
I've mostly solo que, have only fireteamed a couple times. If you back up your team and play PVP when invaded, then you and your team will do better.
-
That's easy to say if you are in a team with good coordination. Most people play solo man, they don't have that kind of communication.
This game mode was made for teams not for solo players. Before you talk shit about it, i am a solo player too. They added clans for a reason btw.
-
But regardless of that fact you can in fact go in solo.
-
My last 2 winning streaks were solo! 4 in a row and then 3 in a row! Against fireteam a too. Play smart and back each other up and it's not too crazy... Only thing I find annoying is when I've got 12 motes but my team keeps snatching up all the motes! Teamwork people, we need big blockers!!!
-
But regardless of that fact you can in fact go in solo.
u can also go to raid solo, it doesnt mean its meant or even possible to do it.
-
Listen here. Someone said that last time in D1 and Thelegendhimself soloed raids. We don't like your negativity.
-
Lol you argument is super weak mate, give it up.
-
Lol he tried comparing raids X'D
Lol you argument is super weak mate, give it up.
LMFAO and your is epic. Best argument ever gg

You can't compare colony to sleeper. Using the colony during the invasion means that you are sacrificing boss dps. You can get both high boss dps and easy player kills with sleeper
-
I'm not comparing boss DPS - I am using it as a "cry for nerf" example. EVERYONE hated on the colony when it first came out. It ruined PvP It's OP There Is no defense for it... etc etc. There was no end to it. Then when people learned how to jump and avoid it - they calmed down. If people played Gambit a little more (and a lot more smarter) then sleeper wouldnt be an issue.
-
I think you have some facts wrong, sir. Colony tracking was fast becoming a problem that may have needed correction. Then Graviton got buffed. There goes the exotic slot. No more Colony. Comparint Colony to Sleeper is false equivalence, btw. Colony needs two relatively slow moving projectiles that teams can destroy if they are fast and skilled enough. Sleeper is hitscan. The moment that beam is fired, anything it touches takes damage. As far as another guardian goes, it's instant death no matter what super you are in, no matter where the beam hits you. There's no countering that. There's no other thing in the game that produces the same results for the ease of use. Yeah, run, hide both are options. However, running and hiding immediately makes it a successful invasion for the other team. Team up and attack the invader, sure. You're just giving them easier targets. I have a clip of a completely accidental demonstration of the power of Sleeper. A couple days ago I was just trying to help quickly burn our primeval down before the other team. Took a shot from lower than the bosd platform and to the left. As I shot, the enemy invaded. I hadn't even registered yet there was an invader when he was dead and I got credit for a head shot, much less actually know where the invader was. Upon reviewing the footage I can see my shot overpenetrated the boss, hit a wall as the invader spawned, and he took a beam through the dome. If it had been me on the other end of that kill, I'd probably have broken my controller. Invasion mechanics need a look over and some tweaks. Touching Sleeper is a good first step.

1. None of the game's fusion rifles are hit-scanned. So part of the skill of using the weapon is allowing for beam travel time. Now that travel time is short, but it is not zero. 2. Comparting Colony is right on point. The tendency for this community (and any FPS community) is cry "overpowered" when any weapon becomes meta, or they find it frustrating to deal with. The Colony was never overpowered. It was just a weapon that was ideally suited to combatting the "camp-and-team-shoot" meta that was dominant at the time. Where teams would camp in the tiniest space they could find on the map and then team shoot any thing that came near them. People would camp in the Tunnel by Point B on Distant Shores....or camp in the buildings on the Platform at Point B on Vostok. The Colony was effective at chasing people out of those camp sites without having to present yourself to get team shot. 3. Its the same issue here. Like The Colony, Sleeper Simulant is a tool that is ideally suited to the job its being chosen for....but instead of seeing this, and rising to the challenge it presents. People would rather whine and complain. Hurr durr hurr durr....How dare you one shot me!!! (Well next time try taking some cover) Hurr durr...its a skillless crutch. (One only needs THUMBS to shoot your ass if you're going to stand out in the open like a -blam!-ing statue.) The issue here is that there is the Deeply entrenched cultural tendency in FPS to use meta weapons as a scapegoat for personal failure and weaknesses in one's own game. With levels of grousing that are often so childish that they get you laughed out of the locker room of any sports team.

My comparison was only about people crying nerf before learning how to play against the weapon. Graviton got buffed waaaaaaaaay after colony dropped! How can you even compare the 2? GL/VW didn't "replace" the colony for months and months - people learned how to play better against it, jump and avoid. My point is - before changing things in Gambit, let's play the game for more than 2 weeks! Everyone is shit in the beginning - even I stood there with my focus on the prime when we were invaded and got killed for it. Now I run around and start shooting that invader wherever he is on the map. And I play solo...
-
Exactly my point, adapt and overcome. Once I hear that warning about an invader and your damn screen turns red and flashes to warn you, I usually switch focus and go into defensive mode. Yeah there’s going to be times they will get the jump on you and get you but it’s usually not with a Sleeper. It’s usually a super or a rocket launcher or maybe a pulse. Maybe it’s just the lobbies I been in but I’ve never had any issues with the Sleeper. If anything it should make your awareness and reaction times better and be more prepared. IDK maybe I been lucky or I get the jump on the invader first and minimize the kills they have
-
Totally - people are complaining before they even give Gambit a chance! I've been getting killed by all sorts of weapons, WotW, RLchers with cluster bombs, grenade launchers, perfect paradox or any shotty etc etc...! I think the entire problem is people don't play tactically! You get a huge warning from the drifter "invader coming in!!!" I swear, if you don't turn around and start looking for the invader then you deserve to get shot!
-
Lol they’re probably like “hurry, kill the Primeval before he comes through the portal”. Not me, the 2nd I hear that warning, I’m duckin out and taking cover and hopefully get the jump on the invader unless spawns right behind me and gets me first. I dont have a Sleeper problem and even if I get killed by it, bug freakin whoop. You got me, cool. Let’s move on.
-
This. People’s first reaction is to whine and cry overpowered, rather than think and adapt.
