the game will not let me dismantle the travelers chosen sidearm

Bungie are aware of the issue and are working on it. Please read last weeks newsletter "This Week at Bungie" for a list of issues they have identified.

I have the same issue, can't even put it in the vault. Taking up an inventory slot and can't do anything about it.
