Do the heroic strikes. The tab above the launch button let's you change it to heroic. @500 light.

I have run the strikes at 500. Is there something other than that to change it to a “heroic” 500?

Nah I thought that was them. Other than making sure you've got an ikelos weapon equipped I don't know.
