So forsaken brought up some interesting lore points. Mithrax, Variks, Mara Sov, Uldren Sov, the spider, Craask; these are all characters associated with high positions among the Eliksni/Fallen:
Mithrax - a Captain (in a fireteam, with an unnamed warlock and an unnamed hunter), looking to become the kell of a new house.
The captain turns, “Wolves rebel. Now, Wolves extinct. This where - live mine - things scatter must end. I will kell the mind-open Eliksni. No spider-tricks. No loyal lies. Variisis truths, we fight for Great Machine together.”
He intends to unite the eliksni or at least some of them, under be traveler and create an alliance with us.
Variks - Judgement’s scribe, now looking to unite the houses.
Mara Sov - in the dreaming city fighting off the corruption of hive, taken and scorn forces.
Uldren Sov - dead at our’s/ Petra’s hand.
The spider - mob boss of the tangled shore. Leads his gang. Hates house dusk and the scorn.
Craask - old kell of house kings. Dead thanks to Uldren and Fikrul.
So you’re now wondering: how does this refers to the kell of kells? Well, I want to see who could be in the running for the title, using (what I believe is) the house of rain’s, Kell of kells prophecy.
So what is the prophecy and how did you get it. Well if you take the flavour texts from the D1 missions “gone to ground”, “the kell of kells” and “the hunt for Skolas” you get the following texts:
Before him, foes will flee or fall. But he will heal the houses, make them whole

the great machine will marvel, moved by might, and come to crown him kell of kells

what whirlwind whisked away will be rewrought, and every kell and ketch will kneel before the kell of kells.
Then you order them “the kell of kells”, “gone to ground”, and then “the hunt for Skolas”, and then combine them you get the prophecy:
”The Great Machine will marvel, moves by might, and come to crown him kell of kells,
Before him, foes will flee or fall. But he will heal the houses, make them whole,
what whirlwind whisked away will be rewrought, and every kell and ketch will kneel before the kell of kells.”
Looking at the prophecy, we can determine that the “kell of kells must unite the houses under his rule and please the traveler with a show of might. I don’t “entirely” believe this is necessary to fulfill the prophecy.
So all one has to do is unite the houses under their rule, to claim the title. Similar to what Skolas attempted.
So now that’s out the way, who is in the running to be Kell of kells from our list?
Well:
Uldren and Craask are dead, so they’re out.
The spider shows no interest in the prophecy at all, or the fallen for that matter.
I doubt Mara Sov does either. Her loyalty is to her people and the reef. Whilst she’s had Fallen bow to her before, it was because she defeated Virixas, kell of Wolves and this became the heir to the kellship, and the wolves had a choice, bow or be thrown in the prison of elders
So that leaves three people in the running. Yes three people. Variks, Mithrax and us. Yes I believe we have a shot. So let’s analyse each one:
Variks: the book “where Loyalty lies” shows Variks declare himself “Variks, the kell” of house Judgement. He then goes onto say
”Eliksni must rise...yes?”
furthermore in the book, “Job Undone” we learn Variks is one of the last remaining eliksni clinging to the culture with significant stature. So with both of these pieces of info, it’s safe to assume he’s off to try unite the fallen.
Now I believe he is the least likely to become kell of kells (of the fallen at the least). House Dusk use the Judgement sigil as a warning sign throughout the EDZ. Chances are, the fallen will not kneel through diplomacy and thus, he’ll have to take control by force.
Mithrax: I believe stands the more of a chance of taking the title than Variks. Mithrax wants to be the kell of a house aligned with the traveler and the city. He clearly respects guardians, as shown by his fireteam, his actions on Titan, and the flavour text of the “Tangled Web plate/robes/vest”:
”let them have the great machine. They deserve it.” - Mithrax, transl from Eliksni
. Now in terms of uniting the fallen, I believe he could do this either way. Through force, or diplomacy. He could offer the traveler’s presence to the fallen. They’d be able to be within it’s light after so long. Or he could take advantage of the use of his fireteam and force his way to the top, having the fallen bow down in compliance and swear loyalty, or fall to his fireteam.
Also given Mithrax rank, he will probably perform better in combat than our last contestant.
sorry Shadow.
Us: If you look at it from a specific view, we could’ve forced our way to the top of three of the four main D1 houses. House devils, Winter and kings (and wolves if you forget their “loyalty” to Mara).
We’ve slain Sepiks prime and Riksis the devils archon, conquering house devils (given they had no kell). (We also dealt with the devils splicers, but due to their culture they’re less likely to kneel).
We slew Draksis, the winter kell and Aksor the winter archon conquering house winter (also leading them leaderless without a prime servitor).
We also slew Uldren and Fikrul, who slew Craask, taking over the house kings leadership.
Granted we never took advantage of their ways, thus we never took advantage over the houses, leading to the fear we installed in them, forcing Craask to get Uldren to unify them. Wait... does that make Uldren kell of kells.... no he hates the fallen and I would assume the creation of the scorn would turn them against him...phew.
It’s also worth mentioning WE have moved the traveler with our might. In the slaying of Ghaul, we proved our might, going two for two on the prophecy, we just never United the houses.
So yeah. That’s my take on it.
chances are there is some plot holes in my thinking, it’s late here irl.
Edited by Shockwave 989: 11/29/2018 8:46:49 PMInteresting added point, if you follow along the theories on Mithrax then you would know some theorise that he is indeed a Fallen guardian. Which I believe would be a pretty damn good fit for the Great Machine crowning the Kell of Kells

4 RepliesSaint 14 killed the house of devil's Kell, but because they devolved into a religious centric house by killing the Archon we technically get the mantle of leadership. Fikrul is really the only thing standing in our way from claiming the house of Kings, yes we killed him once but because he can return from death with ease it's hard for us to keep the title. Also is Taniks technically the Kell of house scar? If that's the case then we can add that house to the list

1 ReplyIf we go by the Speaker's qualities of a Guardian, Mithrax (Misraaks) fulfills 2 out of 3 so far. He sacrificed the golden age tech he stole to us if we saved him from the Hive knight (flimsy, yes, but what great and noble sacrifice did we make before our first death?) and he's exceptionally devoted to his race from what we've seen. He just has yet to die, and be remade in the Traveler's Light by a Ghost. That could also qualify him by default as the Kell of Kells due to him being, by default, the strongest Eliksni.

2 RepliesMithrax joined a guardian fireteam I doubt he cares about leading his people
-
4 RepliesSurely you jest! There is only ONE worthy to rise as Kell of Kells: Randal the Vandal! Course...he might have to change his name to Mel the Kell
-
BRILLIANT!!! I wanna unite the fallen. It would make sports ball more fun!

There is a new lore book about how variks used the elders cipher we gave him back in HoW to become a kell. Before he fled he opened all the PoE cells and sent out a message saying he wants to unite the eliksni. And, he is the only remaining pre-whirlwind fallen so he is the only one who knows of that prophecy

1 ReplyThey've been going at it for awhile so I might as well take the throne. Having the position of the Kell of Kells doesn't sound so bad.

A Kell probably 😂

1 ReplyThe dreaming city sniper 'Twilight Oath' speaks of a vandal named Yevik in the house of dusk. He hears rumors that Mara Sov survived the taken war and plans to abandon the house of dusk because he cannot serve Dusk if his kell still lives. It seems some Eliksni are still loyal to Mara.
-
2 RepliesI'd say it'll become a second alliance of three. Mara Sov as something of a divine ruler, a demigoddess of sorts. Variks as the analogue of the Speaker, a political and spiritual leader to his people, the one who acts as liaison and heirophant. And Mithrax as Kell, the one who leads the Eliksni in battle and acts as war-leader, similar to our Vanguard Commanders.

That is a great summary, ninja. It's great to have the House Rain prophecies in one place and in order. I would like to see Mithrax as Kell of kells and Variks as an advisor as well. Not only does it make more sense, but I think Variks would prefer that ( "Variks didn't want a throne"). You're right to keep Variks up there in the running though with that possibly "prophetic" statement Petra made in HoW. Again great summary!

I am elegible for kell of kells!

1 ReplyVariks was never the one leading the charge. He just follows and advises whoever he sees fit to lead. I think that instead of looking to become Kell of Kells, he’s holding the position until he can find someone worthy of the title. In my perfect little world, Mithrax is Kell of Kells and Variks is his adviser.
