I don't want to be the buzzkill here, I know many of us don't want to see things nerfed but this, my dudes is ridiculous. It can one shot you from anywhere on the map, body or head it doesn't matter. The invading player can see your location which gives them time to charge it up and one shot you. How is this not considered broken?
I could "get gud" or whatever but getting good still does not make gambit fun if I have to be paranoid that every invader is running sleeper. Yes, I could run sleeper too. I could go around one shotting invaders and defenders all day but that still does not fix the issue. If the only way to counter sleeper is sleeper that's a problem. I'm not saying nerf sleeper into the ground but it needs some tweaks, it's just not fun playing Gambit anymore when there is such an easy way to dominate the field.
I know many of you will fire back at this post because a lot of you most likely love sleeper and use it yourselves. However, I really want you to take a step back and remove your bias to really look at this weapon and then give your opinion on it.

How about you just don’t play if you can’t adapt. I haven’t play a lot of gambit but I have yet to be killed by a sleeper and I finished my part if the ace quest in 1 match with the duke 22 or whatever it is called. It’s not a big deal just adapt. When someone invades the game literally warns you don’t stand out in the open and be a bullseye don’t be a target that’s called adapting
-
It's not that bad. I play defense when enemy portal is up an 90% of the time I spawn snipe the invader.
-
The sleeper hate is stupid. Sleeper isn't insanely powerful, it's the easy button for getting kills on a bunch of people that probably either aren't that good in PvP, or don't PvP at all. Want to know what's as good or better as an invader? Masterworked Darci with the PA perk, which Truesight gives you the ability to proc, Queenbreakers, Whisper, any aggressive sniper you like, any aggressive linear you like, a good tracking rocket. The list goes on, because all of those kill faster than the sleeper, if you have the skill to use them (meaning you can either double-tap or hit a head shot, which is Destiny 101 at this point). Add on to that the fact that a little strategy can make the sleeper killing you basically mean nothing, and it's not that big of a deal. Periodically glance up at the score bar: see the little notches in it? That's the score level where an invasion can occur. And see the grey shadow bar? That's how many motes a team is holding, but hasn't banked. So when the other team is almost at an invasion mark bank all your motes ASAP. If you see an invasion has occurred, bank all your motes ASAP. They only get a short time, or 4 kills, whichever comes first, and if they can't kill a high-mote player, the invasion is basically wasted. Then look at their bar when an invasion is available to you, and go in when the grey bar gets large. Kill one player with 10-15 motes, and maybe one other, and it's pretty much lights out for that team, sleepers or no sleepers. Kill the primeval minions, then unleash with everything you have on them. I promise, if the other team is behind at that point, sleeper means precisely jack shit, because there's no way they can keep up, even with an invasion every 30-40 seconds.

Edited by Nightsbane: 9/14/2018 3:37:39 PMThey could also just snipe your ass from across the map or go in using supers. It's the risk you take for getting greedy with motes. Sleeper needs zero nerfs, stop your bitching.
-
The primeval should be down before the first invader enters your arena. Yes that’s right 20 seconds. People seriously got to stop whining and asking for nerfs. Get gud or play something more your speed.
-
2 RepliesPersonally I think they should just remove the overshield of the invader. This may get a lot of hate and it isn’t specifically directed towards the whole sleeper deal. But I mean you can invade a hell of a lot when a primeval is up, I think this would solve a hell of a lot of issues.
-
Yeah it’s ridiculous in gambit I think they should nerf the ammo you get in there for it
-
2 Replies"The only way to counter sleeper is sleeper" Bullshit
-
Learn how to focus the invader and not stand out in the open so you dont get destroyed by an exotic that is the definition of an exotic. Because you dont know how to outplay someone doesnt mean the weapon that killed you needs a nerf. Maybe you should ask for how long you can see gaurdians for to be changed or their overshield to be reduced. Think of ideas that would make gambit more competitive not ruin a fun gun to use.
-
I don't really play a ton of gambit anymore, but yes, sleeper is definitely an issue there. Has been since day 1.
-
I 100% agree
-
It isn't fun to get one-shot to the body from across the map, but we should not be nerfing anything. Players need to adapt. And this is coming from someone who does NOT have the weapon and I would get pissed getting killed by it.
-
Just FYI, sleeper also one shots the invaders... Just food for thought...
-
Nerf invaders not the gun like this is guy is saying. Allow invader wallhacks to only last 5 seconds, that way it allows easier counter-play. At the minute an invader with sleeper can kill half your team before the game's even finished telling you where he is.
-
2 RepliesIt’s ridiculous when I’m invading and have my super up & I get one-shotted by Sleeper. They just need to change the way the exotic perk interacts with overshields & make it require a headshot to OHK.
-
I only play gambit for the powerful engrams and just got to rank three this morning so I don’t have a lot of play time. Sleeper doesn’t need a nerf. Maybe try using cover and shotgunning then? Or use a sniper on them? I run a linear fusion rifle in gambit snd picked the sleeper invader off with that. There is no is no issue with sleeper. The invader has the advantages of knowing where you are and having an overshield. Deal with it.
-
I think it wouldn't be a so big problem with sleeper if sleeper would have less rate of fire/more charge time
-
3 RepliesI bet all the people defending the Do not nerf or alter side are all people who abuse the use of the damn weapon. Use teamwork.... Yeah... because by the time anyone calls it out or notices 2 people already got blown away because the invader usually sits at a distance behind cover. Teamwork only goes so far.
-
I think ages ago, they said they could adjust guns' performance by individual sandbox. Would be nifty for Gambit, assuming that doesnt hurt Crucible use.
-
Nerf sleeper, snipers, shotguns, ARs, pulse rifles, handcannons, sidearms, scout rifles, supers, grenades, melees, fusion rifles, grenade launcher...they're all ruining everything. Stop this killing...can't we all just, get along?
-
Queensbreaker bow can counter the sleeper even easier
-
Edited by Preyz: 9/14/2018 1:29:20 PMi'v only been killed by sleeper 2 times in ten days not sure what the big deal is
-
6 RepliesI’ve been loving the Two-Tailed Fox for invasion. The tracking is actually really good compared to most Launchers. It fires a Rocket, then starts tracking more aggressively. It also gets 2 rockets per pickup so...
-
I didn’t wanna be the one to make this post, but I’m glad someone else did. The sleeper is WAY to strong on defense and attack. It’s a body shot sniper. It wrecks attacker’s, defenders, and supers... In one shot than can reach the other side of the map.

I'm sorry, that was me aiming at you before you hit the corner. Ur prime evil must live!
