  • It seems more then likely so. Ace is real, and was not revived as a Guardian unlike his father Cayde.

    • I would really like it if they were real, if they are not Cayde's already tragic character just got a lot more tragic. He has letters he wrote to Ace as a human, he also has letters he wrote after. But! I think this is where the snag is. He says he found the book on his person when he was revived as a guardian so the question is...is it true or did he write it as Cayde 1-5 to influence Cayde 6, and some argue he's actually not Cayde 6 but 7 and that he refuses to be Cayde 7. I think Ace and his mother were real, they were people from his past, from his memories. Who they actually are is a mystery. Was Ace his son? Or was he just his younger self he remembers. Was the woman Ace's mother, a family member, friend or something else. What started as a for sure thing now is a bigger mystery. It's one of those things that makes me wish the character wasnt gone, but I do hope we hear more cayde stories and thoughts later. Would hate for him to 100% vanish and I want more answers to who he was, especially his past.

      • I don’t think it matters for us to know one way or the other. It only matters that Ace was real to Cayde.

          • Firstly there are letters to Ace from human Cayde. Cayde said they were a lie in a sense that he knew they were not alive and that he doesn't actually remember them. All the way back to Cayde -1 he was always trying to get back to Ace "even though I'll be a robot and all". So in a sense, yes they are make believe. But they were real people at some point. I found "The Man they call Cayde" a touching goodbye to a great character .

New lore suggests Cayde made the whole thing up. We got to be carful cause Bungie is quietly changing bits of lore here and there. Point being it’s clear they have a narrative in mind now. I do not believe Ace was ever real.

              • Probably because Cayde seems like the type who would be a deadbeat dad and abandon their child.

                • I don’t think so. Because he associates the gun he has with his “son”. So, I believe that Ace was a memory given to him by the Brays in order to feel like he has something to fight for.

                    • Afraid not, on the lore book the man who was called cayde he reveals that ace was just Made up by Cayde 5 to keep cayde 6 from becoming an evil person, so it's sad to say but ace was just a figure of cayde's imagination. I'm not crying 😭 your crying

                      • Maybe, maybe not. or maybe it's Ana Bray, a Gunslinger that was adopted into the Bray family.
