Is that what i do with motes? I thought i was supposed to keep 15 at all times and go through the invasion portal to get riggity rekt by a sleeper

There is a hidden trophy for holding 15 motes, invading the portal and dying right away to the other team. I think you have to do it 100 times. You get an emblem for doing it 200 times.

No no no, you're supposed to take the heavy, while you have 15 Motes, invade, and then jump off their map.
