Hello everyone! I've had this doubt for a long time and I decided to make it public.
For example, if a Guardian is in battle and loses its Ghost (just like in the case of Cayde-6) but somehow survives and returns to the Tower: that Guardian can have another Ghost to bond with?

Shin Malphur I believe is the only one to have been made a Guardian by another's ghost. Clearly we do not understand what checklist the Ghosts use to determine which corpses can become Guardians.

2 RepliesI believe that the Ghost can still hack consoles and open doors, but I don’t think it’s possible for them to revive a different Guardian. Here’s my take on this: Saint-14 talks about (on Perfect Paradox) his Light having a unique frequency. The Speaker in the base campaign also talks about the Light being in all things, big or small, dim or bright. I believe the Ghost heals by amplifying the Light inside the Guardian, allowing the Guardian to regenerate. Think about it like a radio; the closer you get to the specific frequency, the better the signal. The Ghost does the same, through amplifying the “radio frequencies” to speed up the healing process. However, I believe when a Ghost “chooses” a Guardian, he attuned that new, unique frequency of the Light, and can perform increased healing on that Guardian and that Guardian alone. Hence why our Ghost could not do anything for Cayde. So, if a Ghost of another Guardian can replace another Guardian’s Ghost? I don’t think so. However, if the Ghostless Guardian were to find another Ghost, maybe...

Pretty sure I've read lore of ghosts finding the guardians, and sharing the minuscule light held within so it grows within the guardian and they are bonded together. Death of a guardian is truly no end, but the death of a ghost is. Emphasis on how the explosion of caydes ghost is the light release. Even with the disconnect of the traveler, ghosts still floated and shit, but didnt work correctly, like a broke radio. It's a big deal for a ghost to be gone, even with Dredgen Yor abandoning his own ghost, threatening to kill him, I believe. A bonding with another is unlikely

Interesting question, friend. I know that one ghost (Jaren Ward's) chose a human (Shin Malphur) to become a guardian after his guardian died. So it may be possible for ghosts to switch guardians. It would be cool if we could have backup ghosts, but I think Eris Morn would have gotten one by now then (unless all the ghosts were just scared of her lol).
