Stuttering has gotten to the point I no longer want to play.

I've done two full reinstalls of the game, all 80gb of it, and after looking up multiple guides that might help any frame rate or stutter issues, nothing has worked. I can do PVE just fine for about a half hour, then the stuttering begins but it's tolerable, it's usually between the 1 hour and 1 n half hour marks that I usually begin to get the kind of stuttering I am going to describe below.. (I was having this issues before Forsaken, but it was barely noticeable in PVE, and severely noticeable in PVP, but was usually contained to just PVP matches.) So if I try to start up a PVP match, doesn't matter if I am joining from the beginning of a match, midway through one, or near the end of one, the game stutters so hard, that it actually feel's like it's about to crash because it looks like it might have frozen. then it catches up, and the moment another player, enemy or ally, steps onto my screen and uses something with a lot of particles (voidlock Novabomb for example), my framerates just tank to the point that it is actually frustrating. I enjoy this game heavily, but if I'm locked out of part of the game because of issues that persist after 2 full reinstalls, and several fixes/changes to settings, then I don't even feel like playing anymore which is sad because I want to actually enjoy this new expansion but all I can do is PVE. (Edit 9/15/2018, 3:02 am): The stuttering/screen tearing that I was experiencing in PVP has escalated to the point that I can't even look in another person's direction if I can see their icon, and it has also spread to PVE. It's honestly to the point that I am done trying to play the game. Bungie if you see this, please for the love of the game, come up with a fix or something, I am at the end of my rope with this game.

  • Hi there. Are you on PC or console? You may want to clear your console cache or perform a PC Scan and Repair to see if these may help with your issue.

    • I'm on xbox and I experience this sometimes in Gambit and when there is a cluster of grenades and supers in a public event.

I came to the forums to make a post about this very issue on the Xbox One X. While not quite as bad as you describe, it's still bad enough to be noticeable, distracting, and I even wondered if it was enough to induce an epileptic episode, all of this in PvE. I have yet to step foot in PvP given all the issues I've been reading on the boards. Mine don't look as much like freezing as they do just a stutter...or a tear. I get them pretty much from inception.

    • What I did was move all my important files and games to an external HDD, and just hard wiped my PC. Installed win10 again and dragged over destiny 2 from the HDD. Played for hours and hours and everything worked like a charm. Then just reinstalled driver and all the games I needed. Maybe give that a try, but caution since Hard-Wiping a PC usually takes hours

    • Have you checked your RAM is inserted properly? I had major issues with stuttering in Destiny 2 last year (exactly the same symptoms you describe) and it was because one of my 4GB RAM cards was not being recognized by the motherboard leaving the game to function on only one 4GB card. Check the BIOS for how much RAM your PC recognizes.
