Please fix the Competitive Playlist whilst you’re at it. I would suggest you start by removing loss of points after players lose a game. Thanks.

  • I haven't tried it out but think your own individual effort should contribute to it not win or lose, the game knows your kd and points earned every match so why not tie it into that, you have a bad game points off you do great but your teammates were crap meaning you lose you still get points.

  • I don't think there is anything to fix there. Fixing it would just be bringing back trials. Losing points when you lose a match is part of competitive modes in every game. It's like in CSGO when people had the constant fear of losing ranks because your team sucked.

  • Losing points in “competitive mode” is a purely a bull shít video game trope and it needs to be retired. If video games want to try and brand themselves as some sort of eSport-like hobby (akin to recreational sports leagues), then it needs to understand that those other hobbies don’t take away points for losing, you just simply get nothing. I’m OK with awarding points only for wins, but to take them away for losing, especially with no skill based matchmaking, it’s a joke.

  • Elo is a representation of individual performance and is used as a grading system to assist matchmaking. You could have a great game and have your team get totally blown out and your Elo won’t go down, because it’s based on YOUR performance. I have no issue with it.

  • The matchmaking in competitive is rank based. If you lose enough matches in one rank to drop down to a previous rank, then it is deserved. If you don't want to lose points for losing, play quickplay and receive your participation award every match.

  • I’ve seen matches where the best player on the losing team plays at or above the level of everyone on the winning team, and not just for a single game, several in a row. If Bungie wants to rank players skill level on an up and down points system, then it needs to be based on individual achievement, not team wins and losses based on a lopsided matchmaking system, even if it is based on your Glory rank. You shouldn’t have a ranking system built on team wins and loses when the teams can change every match.

  • That's just how the matchmaking is set up right now. It tries to balance the player's skill level between the teams. The best player will be on the team with the worst player, and it keeps shuffling the teams each match as people join and leave until the match is lopsided and everyone gets a message saying that it will be splitting up the teams to find a better match. That's just quickplay though. Competitive is based on your glory rank, and is designed to be more team oriented. So complain all you want about your rank being based on your team merits, that won't change.

  • I guess you either don’t understand my point or you are ignoring it completely. Glory ranks are an individual ranking system. However points are awarded or lost through team-based performance, not individual performance. That doesn’t make much sense. If the teams were ALL pre-made and couldn’t be changed for a set period of time, I might understand this more, but it makes no sense to have an Individual Rank system that is not based on individual performance. If it WERE based on individual achievement, then it would make much more sense to match people by ranks. Then I could understand the negative points. Eventually you’d have the same group of guys competing against each other all the time for top ranks. The way MM is designed right now, you’re competing against the MM algorithm as much as you are the guardians you’re paired off with.

  • It’s not about sucking it’s about international peer to peer connection, facing pre-made teams of 4 and cheaters. You can’t overcome that not matter how good you are.

  • Yep totally agree, when I am with my mates in America and I am in Australia, I find it extremely hard to get anywhere, especially in the crucible, yet when I play with my mates here In Australia, it's ok. So you are completely 100% correct.

  • I don’t hate comp or the crucible i just hate losing points when I had some really good games where I out-skilled my opponents. It makes those games and the time I spent count for nothing.
