I’ve been staring at the Luna’s Howl bounty all weekend dreading getting through everything except the Fabled rank requirement.. Is this quest even possible for the average player? How many sub 2Kds actually stand a chance without a carry? Maybe if there was no loss penalty but I just don’t see it being possible
Edit: I’m surprised so many people think it’s doable. I guess I will get in there and give it a try. Thanks all

Short answer no until they fix the mm

Comp sucks but Luna’s howl is worth it

PvP in this game is awful simple as that. Broken imo. Bad lag, bad hit detection, overpowered weapons, randoms against a full clan team, getting spawn killed. Its the 2nd worst PvP ive played behind Defiance. No wonder so many people get annoyed and quit.

3 RepliesMay as well do it since you get valor rank and glory rank when playing competitive

1 ReplyEdited by Crisis-Excel: 9/11/2018 3:37:56 PMCertainly not worth it if you’re like me an average solo player. Stay well clear of Comp, it’s basically Trials 2.0. You’ll only be subjected to: Pre-made Fireteams ✅ Sweaty top tier players ✅ Players with a 5.0 win ratio ✅ Players with a 5.0 K/D or 7.0 KDA ✅ Persistent lag (whether you’ve got a godlike ISP or not - doesn’t matter you’ll see lag)✅ Tea-baggers ✅ Did I miss anything out? I don’t know why Bungie doesn’t just bite the bullet and make Comp for pre-made fireteams only, it’s obvious that’s the way they want you to play.

1 ReplyGo for it. Just be aware of how much you're going to hate pvp by the end of it.

Edited by concreteninja85: 9/13/2018 11:23:07 PMIt's definitely doable, I'm an average player at best and I got a 10 win streak last night then got one loss. All solo matches too.

Competitive is a lot better now. Radar is back and Control and Clash are added to the playlist. Losing doesn't subtract points as much. It is also a relief to play with a total player count of 8.

I've got over 1700 points now from playing a mix of solo or with a fireteam. Solo isn't that bad against fireteams if you can hold your own or if you get put with a team of 3. It's been fairly enjoyable for the most part, even though I need to use Hand Cannons and Dawnblade for the Luna's Howl quest. I'm not really a Hand Cannon guy and I seem to suck with Dawnblade cause Hunters just jump away or Shadestep throigh it to negate some of the damage. The only real downside is that everyone and their mother is running Hunter, Ace of Spades and shotgun which can get VERY boring to play against.

2 RepliesI would say I am average. I will be making my run for the gun. Why not? if I make it then I aquired something that some think impossible, so I beat the odds, and the fun of the chase, the hunt, the insurmountable odds. If I fail, I had fun at the attempt with other guradians, be it in my clan or solo.

4 RepliesHonestly man, i went in with high hopes cause i love pvp and really want that handcannon. Im very average, if even barely....its impossible unless you have a team rollin with you...and in that team, you need a very competent player to help pick up slack. Ive decided to go after the broadsword until i can find a pvp clan that isnt obsessed with a 18.0 kd and would help teach or just have fun. Once i find some people to run with, i will probably try comp again.

7 RepliesJust use west of sunfall... Thank me later.
-
1 ReplyBe careful Someone maybe rushing at you with a shotgun... right now.
-
It is entirely doable solo.
-
1 ReplyYes! Make sure you play as much as you can preferably around 4 pm Pacific time ! 🤗 Happy hunting

5 RepliesEdited by MeMasterBlaster: 9/12/2018 10:18:36 AMNo. Wish I wouldn't have started. My kd has gone to hell with these hand cannon requirements for the lunas howl quest. Countdown is a horrible game type. If I didn't only need 14 precision hand cannon kills I'd stop. Just a pain to get them against snipers, shotguns, titan melee, supers sword ranged attacks, wardcliff, inagural address. Yeah. Hand cannons are fun and all but you'll never want to use one again when you're done.

give it a go. I don't usually hold too high of a k/d (product of PTFO), but I'll be grinding my way through. Solo most of the way cause many of my clanmates are scared of Comp, lol.
-
Its possible, keep trying!
-
If you do go for it, get a team. The playlist is not solo friendly at all.

Edited by Doc: 9/11/2018 8:10:49 PMAt 3000ish glory and two teams i played with were from lfg . I am above average but the grind is easier this season.
-
I suck at PvP and I suck with hand cannons. Quest deleted after 2 hours. I'll stick to the pulse rifle one.
-
There is nothing in this game that makes the Competitive Playlist worth it to me.
-
1 ReplyCompetitive modes are more fun than quick play. Quickplay is just a chaotic cluster.
-
2 RepliesStarting to think it's impossible for me. Could eventually do every step if the quest but ranking up in comp is beyond me I'm afraid. After 20+ comp games I'm lower ranked than when I started -_-
-
3 RepliesI'm already at 2484 glory points
-
1 ReplyGet a team. There is nothing that could help your progress (as a player and in glory points) more than a consistent team. Right now matchmaking without a team is garbage. You either destroy or get destroyed there is almost no middle ground. So gather a team and prepare for a grind. Also, look up the quest steps and realize what you are signing up for. This isn't something that anyone can carry you to. There are a lot of comp hand cannon kills that you have to get yourself and several other steps as well.
