Ace of spades quest step makes me hate gambit
The second step to get the ace of spades requires you to kill 5 invaders in gambit, which is a lot harder than it sounds. There’s many reasons why; they spawn with an overshield which makes it almost impossible in a 1v1 situation. They also know where you are at all times which doesn’t help either. All your teammates shoot at them too so you most likely will not get the kill and they are most leaky using 1 shot or long range weapons so good luck with that. They also seem to spawn in when there’s a lot of enemies so you will also have a high chance of dying to ads so yeah all in all they really need to change the step to make it easier since I am not lucky like a lot of people out there

If I ever get the five kills I will never play Gambit again. I now hate it and before the quest step I thought it was fun. It's making me throw my controller. Doesn't that sound like I'm enjoying this Bungie?!?

It’s stupid because it’s completely random whether you even get to gun fight with an invader. They should increase the total amount and make it for both invading and invasions.

It’s the opposite of the spirit of competition to have people pursuing personal objectives to the detriment of their team. I do not want to use hand canons in Gambit. Yet I feel beholden to until I complete this objective. I could help take out the invader MUCH easier if not for that, because you know.....that’s the point of the game mode. To win. No competitive mode should EVER have players hindering themselves to the detriment of their team for the sake of completing a personal objective. EVER. It’s so asinine but they obviously don’t care and aren’t going to change it. No one wants to invade because they want to wait and kill an invader with a hand canon. I haven’t invaded yet because of this. Two of the matches I’ve played today had only two invasions. TWO. It’s obviously a terrible thing to impose into this kind of game mode.

2 RepliesMy dude, I was feeling discouraged about hearing all the complaints that it's hard, or takes too long, etc. I'm gonna be totally honest with you, if you play Gambit the way it was meant to be played, just by playing the objectives and having fun with it, the five invader kills comes naturally. I got it done in 3 matches, and I am by no means good at PvP. Go on, you can check my stats if you want to. But I also have to tell you, just like the Thorn bounty from D1 Y1, this step is meant to teach you how to play Gambit. The Thorn quest too, was meant to teach you how to play in the crucible more carefully. The people camping in a corner and getting frustrated and say they never want to play Gambit after this quest, you must be doing something wrong. I went in just with the idea that if I play Gambit normally and get an invader kill once a match or so, then I'll get it done. And even with that mindset, I exceeded my own expectations for myself. Don't get discouraged, guardian. Take it slow, and remain cool during the heat of the moment with invaders coming in.

At least expand it to include kills *as* an invader, not killing invaders. The odds are stacked against you on this grind. Console players are at a disadvantage too!

People please... stop complaining! it ain’t gonna change just get good! If you have trouble getting a measly kill per game then run with a clan mate or buddy and team shoot the invader! Omds took me 3 games to do this part of the quest and I would say I’m average at pvp. Just crack on stop moaning

I’m guilty of it myself when I was doing it. I appreciate the difficulty but its ruining the game mode. And the dumb thing is that it’s only the first step of the quest and it’s honestly the hardest. The rest of the quest is a cake walk. And for all the people blabbing how easy it is just “get good.” Number one not everyone uses Hand cannons. They’re a pretty high skill weapon and I myself don’t particularly like them unless they’re 180rpm. And number two, the difficulty of the quest isn’t really the main issue. It’s how the difficulty is effecting the over pace of gambit right now.

I'm done with the quest, but can't win a match because everyone else is also doing the quest and will rush invaders with 15 motes. And anyone that's done is either just trying to farm Gambit for gear or griefing hand-cannon users with Sleeper.

5 RepliesThis quest step was the idea of someone at Bungie who did have much experience playing Gambit..... .... or just wanted to drive the engagement numbers at any cost. I have three kills so far, and only one came from a 1v1. The other was a 2v1 where the guy was already weak. The other came when I outlasted the invader because I was standing in a team mates Well of Radiance. It’s a poor quest step for all the reasons you mention. Plus the meta is quickly becoming that no one engages with primaries. You’re either going in with OHK special weapons, heavy weapons or a super because the invader only has 30 seconds and has a lot of ground to cover. So you look and feel like an idiot bring a hand gun to an artillery duel. This quest step will become nearly impossible as the community starts to learn the game’s strategies better.

It is a very frustrating step but there's another problem with it. Gambit is a team mode where the objective is to win...the amount of matches I've seen with players running handcannons and clearly trying to complete this objective instead of getting the overall win is just silly.

1 ReplyI'm in the same boat, for a different reason. I suck with hand cannons in general, which combined with my IRL firearms training leads me to go for center of mass shots. Kills are next to impossible to accomplish. It's frustrating as hell.

13 RepliesI can grind for 25 headshots with a hand cannon. Hand cannons on console are so bad because of bloom it's a pain in the ass, but I can grind them off. Atleast they don't have to be 25 in a row... *glares at first curse, the gun that took forever to unlock only to be trash* But yeah, they should probably just rip the gambit part out of it. I mean, sure, you'll get it eventually... But most of the people who already have it were probably in a stacked fire team who teamed up and left the person hunting for the weapon to lay the final kill, most random players will be working at this a while.

Pick up a crimson and some skills I can tell you from experience being fabled rank in gambit that if you are smart and play well invaders are not that hard to kill

Then stop going for it? Just play the game the way it was designed instead of just trying to complete something. If you played gambit and tried idk playing to win instead of just trying to get hand cannon kills you might actually just complete it. That’s the issue with everyone like yeah you have a quest or a challenge but you will complete it naturally by playing the game. You are just impatient. And if you hate PvP that much then just don’t do it nobody is forcing you to have ace of spades. If you want it then go for it and stop whining.
