Remember in destiny 1 where we could buy motes of light? Those were shaped like the traveler (I know they were circles and that's a general shape). The motes in Gambit are shaped like the tetrahedron ships and the also call taken which means they have some connections to the darkness. I'm just throwing this theory out there.
