Im sort of confused. Can anyone fill me in on the canon of MC being in cryosleep from reach-halo 1?
-
Because they can spend very long amounts of time in Slipspace so they usually freeze most of the crew in jumps and then alternate the staff until they reach their destination..
Posted by: MarineGrunt73 Some say that it isn't John, but another Spartan named Linda who is featured in the novels. Though of course this theory is shaky since the canon of these books have been called in to question as Halo: Reach doesn't follow them entirely. (She was badly wounded during the battle and placed in to cryo until she could be operated on.)
Um,but John was still frozen in Halo CE soooo....

its linda
He had went through surgery to have Cortana implanted in his brain. So he's in cryo recovering from the surgery.
That makes no sense. Cryogenic freezing effectively freezes you in time, meaning he wouldn't heal while in cryo sleep. When woken up, it would be as though he had just had the surgery.
-
The Master Chief went into cryo sleep because they were unsure as to the effects slip-space would have on the MJOLNIR armor as he was using one of the brand new Mark V suits. It was basically to ensure he would survive travelling at super-luminal speeds. The lack of real info in this thread is...concerning.
-
It's not because he was recovering from having cortana implemented into his brain or whatever. In Fall Of Reach just minutes after it's done he completes an obstacle course to test their capabilities where he works with Cortana without any problems whatsoever.
-
He's 45, but with a slightly younger body. You don't age while you're in a cryotube, and he spent quite a bit of time in those things.
Posted by: everywhere116 Pretty much everyone goes into cryo for Slipspace jumps. They take months to complete.
Exactly. And besides that I don't think this easter egg is meant to stand up to too much scrutiny, for instance; why would the Chief be in a cryotube in the aircraft hangar? Doesnt make sense. It's just an easter egg for us fans and should be taken with as much sincerity as the Johnson-Elite easter egg at the end of Halo CE Legendary.
-
Because spartan armor can only last for 15 years unless frozen

When a ship travels through slipspace, they still have a long journey. It only appears to be very fast to an observer in normal space.

I'd like to see you get a USB port in your ceribelum and walk easy 15 minutes later.
That would be awesome. But it's never going to happen :(

its a major part of all scifi they are making a jump from system to system... takes a while lol you may want to sleep through that lol
Posted by: xMAx DaDuff666 To stay young Oh and until he gets implanted with Cortana.
So how old is MC in actuality?
-
He had to have a socket wired into his brain first. Then it's just plug and play.
-
Everyone but the people piloting the ships go into cyro sleep during space travel I believe.

To stay young Oh and until he gets implanted with Cortana.

i just think of it like the film demolision man hes the best at what he does so they kept him frozen till they needed him(this is just my oppinion)

Waiting around for Halos to blow up is boring.

He was sleepy?.... Lol, I'm not sure. But I'm sure someone will eventually show up here and tell us.
