Was playing PvP competitive today for a quest. I'm not the best but I try. Next thing I get a message from someone saying I am "trash" and to go back to PvE. I reported the message and blocked them, but why do people feel the need to send abuse? It really had a negative effect on my day. I wish there was some actual repercussions for these people.
UPDATE: Thank you to those of you who posted kind words, it is nice to know you are out there. A bit of context. I have a 2 week old newborn, I'm getting hardly any sleep, and trying to juggle this new life with aspects of my old one. I am doing great, the message just hit me in a really speed deprived state and I was unable to really shake it like I always have. I've had Xbox Live for 13 years, I've seen it all and heard it all before. I just hoped that people would show more tollerance to people. Become legend everyone.

If they send you hate mail they themselves are trash and will never amount to anything above dirt in the game so you are better than them.
-
1 ReplyI love hate mail....salty mail....git gud mail....all makes me giggle as this is just a game
-
2 RepliesGrow a tougher skin little boy, if you get offended and affected by these kinds of messages this isn’t the place for you...
-
It’s annoying having guys at the bottom of the board who pretty much lost everyone the game all by themselves. It’s half bungies fault for not using skill based matchmaking.
-
7 RepliesWait till you enter the real world. Your gonna be devastated.
-
If it had a negative effect on you all day then you need to grow up. I laugh at hate messages I get cause I know the guy that sent them is probably a bucket of salt lol
-
Being called “trash” had a negative effect on your day? Dude, you have a kid and you’re so easily offended by ONE word sent to you by someone you don’t even know? If you don’t grow up i wont be surprised if your kid bitches and complains over being called a word as simple as “wack”. grow some balls, man up, and dont be a pussy

19 RepliesTake solace from the fact that the player that sent you the message has literally no life. The fact that the player feels the need to send you an abusive message because you had a poor game is pathetic behaviour. People like this in real life are literally losers, most likely living in their parents basement covered in Cheesy Doritos. Players should try to respect each other and show some patience. We can’t all be superstars. It is a game after all!?

1 - Disable whispers with people not on your friendlist 2 - Hide the chat during pvp and never look at it 3 - Enjoy YOUR game, cause YOU payed for it Do not let those salty kids bother you.

2 RepliesThe opinion of strangers on the internet is irrelevant and has no bearing on you as a person.
-
1 ReplyAll these elitists so happy to come into quickplay to pub stomp, but so angry you join their team in competitive. Having a handicap should make all of you get better. How are you going to get good without trash players on your team that you have to account for? Most of these comments are such a -blam!-ing joke. So funny what you all have to say when the shoe is on the other foot.

5 RepliesEdited by JustAguy91: 9/9/2018 5:54:07 AMReading these comments is sad. The OP is upset and everyone just wants to be rude. "Don't be sensitive", how about not being so rude. The world didn't just get more sensitive, people are forgetting to be kind to others as well. Sad stuff. On a constructive note, change your console settings to where only your friends can message you and strangers can't. Sorry that happened to you bud. I have my settings like this for this reason. Want to add me as a friend and we can practice PvP in private games?

Abuse? More like a wake up call
-
Eh I get those in for honor and dbx2

I receive hate mail, I deflect. "Ur trash" "I hear penguins can't fly anymore due to all the reindeer games," "Wth" "It's a sensitive topic, please, be kind." "Lol" People roll the ball in your court, make them regret it. But, I also gauge how toxic people are by what they send. If it's "ur trash", it's usually a troll looking for a reaction. They get the randomness. If it's anything past that, I find ignoring them usually works. If they're persistent and toxic? Blocking helps. That said, people just need to chill out and be cool.

1 ReplyIf people are sending you hatemail, that means you've done something right.

Edited by PhilSoBad: 9/9/2018 7:56:48 AMIdk if Xbox has a setting where you can set it so random ppl can’t send you messages. PS4 has it and it’s beautiful.. I’m sure the angry ppl trying to send messages will feel even better once they find out they can’t send a message to you
-
What should we do? Have the police hunt them down and hurt their feelings? Come on man. Toughen up just a tiny bit......
-
7 RepliesI understand how you feel. In the past 10 to 15 games in a row I have been doing very well. 30 kills on average. And because I've been doing very well everyone keeps sending me hate mail, I've had to block in between 2 to 3 people a game.
-
5 RepliesLet me guess. You play on Xbox?
-
Ironically, the senders are the ones that asked for SBMM to be turned off.
-
Lmao Just report them , fill in the text with some sappy explanation like I do got a guy banned for a week . He messaged me on another account ranting I just laughed and reported the other account .
-
1 ReplyIf a rude message from some random PvP tryhard ruined your day, then you need to reevaluate things.

4 RepliesDo your quest, then be done. I've had to do competitive for quest and I'm crap at pvp in general, I do not have over a 1.0 kd but if you look at my stats on the app, gamertag is my name, itll show I do because bungie inflates it with kill assists counting as a kill. I get hate messages a lot, I even had a night where I couldn't do anything right in a damn public event all things, every boss seemed to be dialed in on me and focused on no one else. I probably does like 8 times, dude messages me tell me to burn my disc and hang myself through suffocation so I would know their pain of having to revive me so many times. Didnt bother me at all, I'm still playing and still living. I sent the guy a message back, told him thanks for the revive. Also let him know that game discs dont make for good fire supply and I dont like choking so that isnt an option. I did report him to bungie and xbox, I doubt anything happened, but he got blocked as well and I went on with my life. It does suck that a quest can be put into something out of your comfort level, but do what you need to do and stop, that's all I can say. I will not be condescending on someone for having to do something they suck at for something they want to accomplish. If it's just playing 3 or 5 games just hide away and dont die instead of running around. If you gotta get kills hang around a couple guardians behind a few feet let them do the hard work and anticipate the enemy health getting low and steal the kill. It sucks, but just get it done as fast as your skill allows and stay out, I never go into competitive if I dont have to. I feel your pain though, getting good just isnt an answer or appropriate response from anyone when you're doing something out of our skill level just to forward a quest. Do your best and move on. Hang in there you'll finish it.
