Glimmer Cost to Infuse is Insane

5K to buy 5 materials 9K to infuse 25 materials needed For some players it will cost 34k glimmer to level up one piece of gear. I, being stupid, spent a lot of my materials on world vendors thinking I was just handing in Tokens. This means I HAVE to buy materials with glimmer if I want to infuse. It cost me 75k glimmer to infuse Leg Armor and and a Shotgun. My finances will never be the same. There is no way to consistently earn enough glimmer. You either have 100k or you're struggling to afford simple things. I love that the Spider has glimmer bounties... Why do they cost glimmer to purchase? Also... BUMP UP THE REWARD. Or nerf the cost of everything. ---- Edit: I saw people saying earlier that infusing a shotgun into a shotgun would improve the cost to infuse... I'm not seeing that. I wanted to infuse a shotgun into my Perfect Paradox but the cost was exactly the same. Better Devils into another Better devils, for example, does work... But I am not seeing a reduced cost for just being the same archetype of weapon.

  • I get it - but having to choose between a piece of gear that you like or being max power and using a piece of gear that you dislike isn’t fun - at all.

  • You obviously never played D1 with a cap at only 20k (or is it 25k) glimmer. Even now I'm always maxed out or get it back insanely fast. If all else fails I probably have about a million glimmer in shaders sitting in my vault. Hmmm that makes me a million glimminar!

  • What i wanna is this The week before forsaken infusing cost Glimmer Leg shards Planet mats You got 4 mats from a chest and 2 from the resource pickup. Forsaken drops and you now need Double glimmer Double shards Double mats Mw cores And you now get 2 from chests 1 from pickups What the hell is wrong with bungie, you doubled the requirements and halved the amount you get. They showed us 1 thing and then gave us a different thing..... That is a blatant lie and some grade a BS

    • It's about time glimmer is relevant imo, I've been pretty much maxed the entire time

      • I like it since I’m normally at 100k glimmer for a while. Now I can do something useful with it.

      • Sometimes you can get 2500 Glimmer for giving him just a single legendary shard. Regarding your edit: it seems that the weapons have to have the same name. For example infuse a 400 Paradox into a 500 Paradox and it only costs 500 glimmer. I read that like five minutes ago - can't confirm it yet though as I kept dismantling stuff. Keeping duplicates just in case seems a little bit tedious though.

      • The economy is what it is. It's time to adjust and figure out ways to be more efficient on earning glimmer. The one way to do this is to equip a ghost that offers a glimmer boost while on a planet. Complete as many bounties from spider then cash them in with your ghost equipped. Make sure you're on the appropriate planet when you cash them in to get the boost. This also works for xp gains as well. Just have to equip an xp ghost.

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/248185616/0/0 This is what this community deserves for being dumb enough to compare mediocre D1 to a slightly better yet just as mediocre D2/forsaken...community shot themselves in the foot comparing a whole lot of mediocracy rather being DETAIL AND SPECIFIC about what they want. See in World if Warcraft or call of duty or battlefield you have a decade of time and handfuls of titles to sift out the great feature and the worst features in order to in my opinion build 1 great amazing title. Though Destiny community chose not the brighter side they compared a foundation to a foundation w 1 floor added to it but wanted ONLY TO go back to a foundation build of tedious BS exploited currency to keep the streamers grinding there life away into a hole, oh and those that follow suit like lemmings. The truth is tough to swallow and I love destiny. I’d rather see it flourish vs being exploited for analytics and shitty jobless streamers. Sorry for my rant. It’s a video game and should not quite be treated like real life to a certain degree.

        • The rewards for glimmer is a joke at the moment were it cost more to infuse anything. Only this morning I went through 80k like it was cheap toilet paper but trying to regain the is proving to be hell even with bounty’s & Job request beacons

I can’t find where you buy materials for glimmer. Everything in Spiders inventory costs shards for me. I’d love to find a use for this glimmer.

Out of everything you complain about its the glimmer cost? You can max cap glimmer in less than a few hours cmon now you can't be serious. I do feel the glimmer cap should be higher considering how fast you can glimmer cap. The discount only applies to Y2 duplicates. Anyone else you'll just get bent I guess. The only real issue with the infusion system is the masterwork cores post-500

        • You can play on a planet for one hour and have enough mats to infuse 20 pieces of gear. Stop crying and get to grinding.

        • Or you could farm for the materials, the rich can buy the mats, the poor must work for it. Kinda works like modern society. (I'm glad because I was always at max glimmer and now I have something else to keep track of)

          • I usually run a bunch of planet events with some strikes thrown in, max glimmer and go about my business. The cap is annoying but hey, at least it keeps us busy. We may hate the grind, but sadly it’s necessary.

            • You could just go find it in the wild. Most sources drop a ton of mats. I’ve been picking up etherical stuff on tangled shore and you get 1-6 mats every pick up. Chest have some too

Same problem in D1. But we only had a 25k limit plus bounties did not offer large amounts of glimmer as a reward. I’d say this is fair. Just my opinion though. Edit: Forgot to mention vanilla D1 didn’t allow for buying planetary materials, nor ghost shells to track planetary nodes or gain additional glimmer. You guys have it easy. For reals though.

              • The new system seems to require you to make a larger commitment for infusion therefore, you have to make better decisions when infusing. It’s also the first week of Forsaken; as we get deeper into the expansion materials will become more of a commodity.

              • I have 600 thousand glimmer stored in my vault, no problem for me :) Last week of trials, I stocked up on the exotic ghost. When you dismantle it, it awards you with 5000 glimmer and 5 shards :) Always plan ahead :)
This means I HAVE to buy materials with glimmer if I want to infuse.
No it doesn't... I'm sure someone else already pointed this out, but you don't "HAVE" to buy materials. There are several ways to go about getting more materials that don't involve spending glimmer.
