Thanks for Ruining Single-Shot Grenade Launchers - My Most-used Weapon Type

Orewing's Maul, and Flash and Thunder... Let me start by saying that I rarely ever post on Bungie.net, for very specific reasons, mainly pertaining to the levels of toxicity, egotism, and blatant trolling that this forum has become. I've been a Member of Bungie.net for pushing [b]11-Years[/b] soon, and I just have to vent about this because I'm so manically frustrated with this decision.. Flash and Thunder being my PvE, and Orewing's being my PvP. Closing in at nearly [b]3,800~ Crucible Kills[/b] on Orewing's, and [b]7,000~ Enemy Kills in PvE[/b] with F&T. I've been using both these weapons since I got my hands on them, even before the buff to grenade launchers was utilized. Incase you're wondering what I'm talking about, this little tid-bit stuck out to me in the recent patch: "Perks: Increased the blast radius penalty for Concussion and Blinding Grenades from single shot grenade launchers." That single sentence of text has doomed single shot grenade launchers that aren't the Fighting Lion. You may be asking why; The original blast radius of Truthteller, Flash and Thunder, and Orewing's Maul was 58 with Concussion Grenades, and 8 with Blinding Grenades. Those are the ONLY two perks all three weapons have for that perk tree. They've lowered the blast radius to 5, for both Concussion, and Blinding [u][b]5, FIVE, and you can't change it.[/b][/u] To put this into perspective, vanilla Destiny 2's Fighting Lion had a blast radius of 11, and everyone knows how great of a weapon that was! </Obligatory Sarcasm> You can literally land a grenade shot DIRECTLY next to an enemy now, and it'll barely tickle them, and you will do the most minimal damage to anything but with a direct hit now, and all three launchers can literally no longer compete with even the weakest weapons in PvP unless you get a DIRECT hit, which will now also no longer 1-Hit somebody because the damage is tied to blast radius. This has to be probably the most uncalled for, dumbest decision I've ever seen in this game, and I've grit my teeth through a LOT of decisions in this game. Single-shot grenade launchers were never meta, and grenade launchers that weren't Play of the Game or The Colony were laughed at and almost never used. You've single-handedly stomped a [u]massive[/u] chunk of my enthusiasm for this DLC completely out of mind, and tossed it in the fire. Thanks for ruining my two favorite weapons in Destiny 2, and my favorite weapon type in general. Thanks, a lot.   • Thank you! These launchers had so much utility in both pve and pvp with that blast radius. Before, I was stunning groups of ads to save teammates and pulling off trick shots against other guardians and finishing them with my primary weapon. Now, I tend to save my grenades for majors but still get swarmed by minor ads. Doesn't help that unless they're cabal or larger in size, everything just moves out of the way. Then in the crucible, I pretty much need to get direct impact hits otherwise those two shots we get when we spawn are completely useless. A shame these got nerfed to hell.

    I totally agree. I was without internet for most of September so I didn't know about the nerfs. I pick up my favourite thing in the game, Orewing's Maul, hop into crucible, and am flipping lost. I'm thinking "I really suck now" until I land some direct hits, and get dick for them. I honestly don't understand why the hell they thought this was good. Really. "Oh boy! At long last! A gun I can't one hit people with, can't use for suppressive fire, can't switch fast enough from to beat any ttk, and can kill myself with if I accidentally hit someone too close to me. That's exactly what I need in a weapon." I'd been using Orewing since it first entered the game. It was literally the only power weapon I enjoyed in crucible.

    With fighting lion being primary ammo I switched to it anyway. So they nerfed a weapon that was very rarely utilised, and if so only by high-skilled players, but they left shotguns untouched where every noob and their mother can one-shoot you crouching behind a corner? I think I'm missing something here... oO

  • It's not just concussion n blinding grenades. The dead orbit one has an option for no status grenades n the blast radius says it's normal but it's the same as concussion. They've been nerfed to the ground and are unusable. Use fighting lion with a quickdraw weapon and a targeting armor perk. I like the 10 paces n I think that's the only hc that can roll quickdraw.

          • Are these 2.0 or 2.0.1 changes? Maul was the the weapon I saw the most crucible success with after the weapon slot changes and before the expansion so I’m surprised to read your feedback. It helped me get back on my feet in the new meta because it’s good against almost all the crutch weapons and strats that first week. If this is 2.0.1 changes and I see the same results I’m also going to be disappointed with the change. Especially because it doesn’t seem warranted at all because it’s a skill based weapon that counters the lack of skill weapons and tactics that are so heavily prevalent. I understand why you rarely post and agree, but I will say for sure that the wording of your post topic is going to be the bait that draws the trolls to you. There is a large segment of pathetic parrots on these forums that see any criticism and jump on it with nonsense.

                  • Legit Was my go to secondary in crucible. now is best used for the scrap heap. I am literally pissed. There are now no good breach grenade launcher s for secondary

                  • I completely agree with A Rainbow Filly. I don't understand why the decision to nerf the 90 rpm grenade launchers was made, but it will cause the class to never be utilized again. I could maybe see Bungie trying to would argue that the decision was tied to the 90 rpm grenade being moved to the special slot. I would counter though that shotguns and fusion rifles (both almost guaranteed one-shot kills) are now also in the primary/special slot. However with the change made to the ammo economy, I believe that that was enough of a 'nerf' since you can no longer just spam grenades, and have to be much more selective. The blast radius of the 90 rpm class should have remained as it was in Season 3. -SilverEpyon / merceDADDY PS: I believe there will be many more comments similar to these in the near future
