Does anyone else think the Arbiter should have had a cameo at the end of the game?
Think about it, just as the Pillar of Autumn shoots off into the sky it cuts to the Arby, in his full Golden armour a la Halo 2, at the bridge of a covie super carrier. An Elite would run in and say; "Sir, a human ship has broken through our defences, and we think they're going to make a jump into slipspace." The Arby would turn and order "I want every ship under my command after it now, not one Human escapes that planet alive!"
Don't you think this would have tied everything together and brought the series full circle? What do yah think?
Posted by: IGNITION246 wouldnt't be arbiter. Just be R'tas Vadumee. (pre-arbiter)
His name is Thel Vadamee, R'tas Vadumee is the shipmaster.

Precisely, it would give us some backstory and show him in his role as fleet commander/whatever.
-
no, because he's not introduced until Halo 2.

*Sigh* I hate the translator argument. If the Covies don't speak English, then why do they speak clear English to each other when there are no Spartans around, how do the marines talk to the Elites (namely, the Sarge and the Arbiter), and how did Captain Keyes eavesdrop on his two Elite guards?? It makes no sense and it's simply a plot device that was thrown in to give English speaking covenant some kind of plausibility, but it doesn't work.

Cause ive had it on since my first playthrough and none of the Covie's speak english. And i really miss the grunts speaking.
Posted by: Nathan R Yea except the dialogue would be in grunts because elites have not learned to speak English yet.
Halseys journal says that shes shocked that the Covenant know our language and she's wondering how long theyve been aware of us, so yes, they do know English. The reason we cant understand them in Reach and Combat Evolved is because while they know our language, we dont know theres. Halo 2 we understood what they said because of ONI or whoever invented a translator. Im pretty sure it says it in one of the games.
-
I know that, but I called him the Arbiter so people would understand what I was saying, and because his real name was too long to type (laziness FTW). Also, he learnt perfect English pretty quickly if that was the case.

Too Space Opera. Reach is more war drama.
-
Too bad it would be completely irrelevant in Halo: CE since he's not the Arbiter until Halo 2. [Edited on 09.24.2010 2:57 PM PDT]

Meh, let's pretend the crew of the Arbiter's ship are the only ones that speak English, hence why they do so in Halo CE.

Yea except the dialogue would be in grunts because elites have not learned to speak English yet.
