Nightstalker in PvP is still amazing imo, we have the best neutral game still, our super could use a slight damage buff but the change to it where it instantly shuts down supers instead of the delay is amazing. Now the bottom tree, on ps4 I unfortunately have the whole tree unlocked and I have to say it’s pretty lacklustre, but on pc I have everything but the quiver perk unlocked and I have to say the bottom tree + the rigs is orb heaven and I love it.

  • I’m not saying neutrally it’s bad it’s just the super itself is lackluster if I were to compare it to D1 there was much more versatility with it.

  • I’m not arguing there all the supers felt better in D1 but I think the issue was that when D2 first came out for some stupid ass reason they decided to cater to the PvP community and made our supers significantly less powerful than they should be, maybe when we get the full year 2 update it’ll go back to what it used to be.

  • I don’t feel it was PvP though because most PvP players were pretty content. However the more casual community wasn’t given any love because of how far they were behind. They couldn’t do as many raids or get as much gear which put them at every disadvantage when it came to all forms of activity. That being said I’m not saying casual players ruined Destiny I’m saying constant complaint from both sides of the community forced a change. In an attempt to make the best of both worlds. I’m not saying casual players at fault completely but to shift the blame b/w PVE and PVP is just too narrow minded. Example no one in PvP complain about supers as much because of how easy they could be countered every super felt strong in its own right as did every class and subclass aside from year 3 with the introduction to ridiculously ranged shotguns and the unnecessary Amy change everything was fairly balanced. Best example was year 2. Few complaints

  • I have to disagree with you there, to say PvP didn’t play a heavy role in a lot of the nerfs we received in D1 seems fairly narrow minded, for example, I can’t speak for pre house of wolves first hand because I didn’t play then, but the power of the vex and suros were a hot matter of contention within the PvP community, when I joined it was the 3 hand cannons and the insanely ranged shotties as well as the one shot capabilities of certain snipers and don’t forget bladedancers. Year 2 the big complaints (within PvP mind you) were sunbreaker, stormcaller, the very high ttk, doctrine and sunsingers I can’t remember what came after that, then when we got rise that’s when PvP felt fun. The pve community and the casual community weren’t vocal because the pve was fine for the most part, there were very few things that the community believed needed to be nerfed, black hammer, gally were the only things that came to mind. A lot of the nerfs we received in D1 were directly because of the PvP influence, and because of that the pve in D1 and D2 suffered because they wanted a level playing field for the PvP. I am in no way saying that PvP ruined the game, but I am saying PvP played too large of a role in the balancing purposes of the game.

  • See I never got to experience it, that’s why I try not to use it as a point in my arguments but from my friends who played when it was OP they seemed to enjoy it. But thank you for the insight, now I know that for next time I try to add it to my argument.

Had a ttk of .4 seconds and melted bosses before they could spawn really lol. Was kind of amazing.

  • At that same time though abilities all in all still felt powerful in D1. Some unbalanced yes but all around more powerful than the current state. I feel if that power still remained their wouldn’t be complaints from both sides. You also need to account for how easy bosses within strikes and raids how easier and easier they began to become because in PVE there were a multitude of scenarios in which we as guardians were overall too powerful or weapons were too powerful or abilities of other classes created a large amount of isolationism for people. I’m sure just like now back then you saw plenty of posts saying “Titan only” “Hunter only” “Warlock only” “Must have Ghorn” “Must have spindle” etc etc. That repeated elitism and the isolationism that followed forced an overall influence and generally when it came to PvP class wasn’t much of a requirement the only requirement was that you have skill regardless of weapon. We most likely won’t see eye to eye and there is nothing wrong with that. I just can’t see one group having more blame than the other. Possibly because I was on both sides and experienced both prejudices. My take from them may have just been different from yours. Nothings wrong with that though everyone has their own opinion and it’s nice to have a conversation on this forum that doesn’t involve insults and profanity.

  • I agree with you there, the tone shift of “have x” has been nice, unfortunately it’s coming back into the lime light with the whole poledancer cheese for spire as well as whisper coming back, unfortunately that elitism will always be prevalent within the game as long as hard to acquire and powerful weapons exist or as long as there’s a near flawless strategy that requires specific classes, which is a damn shame because ive always been of the mindset, use whatever you want as long as you have fun. However being someone who’s gone through a lot of meta changes, the one complaint I have every single time is not everyone should suffer because a few dislike something, there are nerfs to PvP I whole heartedly agree with (the 3 hand cannons) but the fact that the pve community suffers because of that isn’t right, I know that there will never be a perfect destiny game unless they decide to separate PvP and pve but seeing as they most likely won’t do that, it seems ridiculous to me that a whole community should suffer because of the voices of a few. That being said, the direction they’re heading in right now is a promising one, I feel powerful in all aspects of the game, PvP has never been more fun, and with the new subclasses coming out and a new (hopefully varied) meta just around the corner I am very excited to see what the PvP future is for destiny, because as toxic as it was, the hand cannon meta was the most fun I’ve ever had in PvP and this is shaping up to be a second HoW era.
