Well, good on you for trying to help even the odds a bit but it's not very fair to any of the players that a situation like that exists in the first place. I guess I don't understand the logic behind starting a game that's already unbalanced. I know that wanting to keep queue wait times down is a factor but personally I'd rather wait another couple minutes finding a full team for everyone than waste 10-15 minutes playing a game that I'm destined to lose because I'm outnumbered from the get go. Or even waste another 5 minutes quitting the match and re-entering the queue to get a new game started.
