Destiny 1 peaked at Taken King so it should be peak this time too

PVE? HELL, YES. PvP? Wait. Destiny 1 Beta player, here. The game turned a corner with the release of "Warmind". The Warmind DLC was far from perfect....but it was the first time Destiny 2 felt like it was picking up where Y3 Destiny 1 had left off in PVE, and not some misguided effort to reinvent the game. Update 2.0 (which is basically sandbox changes and economy changes for Forsaken) dropped on Tuesday.....and it feels like Bungie has given us Destiny 1 back....and then moved the football even further down the field with new weapon system changes. We are STUPIDLY powerful now compared to when you stopped playing. So powerful, in fact, I'm wondering if Bungie might have gone a little too far in cranking up the power-fantasy. (Nice problem to have for a change.) The praise from PVE players about patch 2.0 right now is nothing short of glowing. PvP, OTOH....is still a mess. Player abilities have seen massive buffs and dramatic reductions in cooldowns since you last played. Along with the Patch 2.0 changes, the game is **starting** to feel like Destiny 1s PVP again. Which means the Crucibaby whining is starting already. With passive players bitching that there are too many shotguns....and aggressive players bitching about too many snipers. IMO, the sandbox changes are fine....and its nice to see the game speed up...and have the ability again to punish players for bad decisions, losing situational awareness, or getting caught out of position again. The problem is that the buffs for warlocks still haven't gone far enough. Hunters still dominate PvP....and the map designs are an absolute Crime Against Humanity. As bad as the pvp maps were for Curse of Osiris....the ones for Warmind were even worse. Something that I HONESTLY didn't think was humanly possible. Maps that were brought back from D1....like Bannerfall and Burning Shrine play well. But the maps from the DLCs still promote and potect a very oppressive team shooting meta. Only now its gone from getting teamshot across choke points with primaries.....to getting ambushed at those same choke points by people with shotguns. Or..worse...getting steamrolled by a mob of 3 or 4 people...one of whom is sticking a shotgun in your face..... ...or sliding in and shoving it...well....somewhere else...... TLDR: If you're a predominantly PVE player, and liked where Destiny 1 was at the end of Y3....feel safe to come back. Bungie has turned the ship around and appears to be heading in a really good direction. If you're a predominantly PVP player....I'd watch-and-wait. The Crucible team is (imo) LOST. They are floundering and imo don't really have a firm grasp on what it takes to produce a modern, enjoyable PVP experience.. Because so many of them...and so many in the community...are still beholden to the Halo legacy. Which is simply not compatible with this game's design. Wait to see how the changes shake out...and whether ths turns out to be a significant course correction. I believe Update 2.0 will improve the Crucible...but class balance still needs work (Warlocks) ....and half the map designs need to simply be thrown out...and they go back to the drawing board. They were bad before...they are shaping up to be intolerable in the current sandbox. Also with the new PvEvP (Gambit) mode that's set to get a free trial on Saturday (9/1) and then drop with the release of Forsaken.....The Crucible is likely to start hemorrhaging players. Especially since Gambit has gotten nothing but GUSHING praise from people who have gotten to preview it at various game conferences over the summer.

Nothing, in terms of things to do, nothing has really changed. There is a serious lack of end game. If you play the game as a "collections" game and not a progression game, you might have fun with it now (that's what I did. I just play to get all the gear and weapon items). I would say wait for reviews on the new DLC to come in. Bungie claims there will be a huge end game. If true, then the game would be worth playing again.

To be honest with you I really think Bungie is worried about the upcoming Forsaken sales. Why else would both expansions be for free on the PlayStation store right now for PlayStation Plus members and in September Destiny 2 with be for free as well. If that doesn’t sound like a desperate attempt to get players to buy Forsaken I don’t know what is.

IMO, if you haven’t played since D2 dropped, then that means you whines and complained about a bunch of stuff. So to answer the initial post, no. This game is not for you, simply because you fail to “adapt and overcome”. You prefer this game to tend to your play style. And/or you just don’t have any friends that play this game with. IMO, family and friends who play a certain game will usually stick around for said game.

I am so confused about the praise for the changes. I have not seen ANY of it yet. I've noticed a lack of things to do (milestones), first of all. The ONLY thing to do on Tuesday was strikes to earn a purple engram. When you go to planets I don't see any challenges or bounties to attempt. Will bounties, challenges, etc be added later? During D2 I never ever saw a "loading' and was frozen in mid step (It happened in D1 though). Now it's happened everyday since Tuesday, several times while gaming. For up to four minutes... Is this part of the D1 feel we wanted back? I noticed enemies change position in a blink of an eye. I was shooting a fallen on the top of a ledge, he kept "bouncing" from on top to below the ledge. He didn't jump, just instantaneously from one spot to the next and back. A fallen ship on EDZ was an outline, appeared invisible, when it dropped off fallen. On Mars, Dynamo, hive were half in and out of walls. Still shooting, but unable to run... All I have got for drops are blue & purple at 376's so far. I was shooting fallen on Titan, and their health bar kept shooting back to full health just before being killed. This I noticed several times on different planets too. Has anyone else had similar experiences so far? Did my update not fully update?
