Bungie, Sweetie, You're Doing Amazing So Far, But...

Please give me a better way to obtain upgrade materials, or remove them from infusions entirely. At this rate, infusions are going to take utterly forever because we need 10 of some -blam!-off material located randomly on one of the many planets just to perform one infusion. For those who don't know what I'm talking about:
Right now, each infusion requires, alongside weapons parts and legendary shards, 10 upgrade materials from some unique planet in order for the infusion to carry out. This was not in Destiny 2 before, but a similar system was present in early Destiny 1 but was removed because everybody hated it.
Y'all remembered that we liked shotguns and sniper rifles as special weapons, but forgot that we utterly agonized over the fact that we needed so many upgrade materials to upgrade our weapons in Year 1 of Destiny 1! As things stand now, we are approaching a very similar situation to that one, and I don't vibe with it at all. Quite frankly, it feels like a shallow attempt to keep us grinding at a boring activity for hours on end for the sake of one instance, one hospital bag-like drip of dopamine directly into our nervous system, lighting the darkness of boredom with a small speck of light that'll maybe encourage us to keep playing through a content drought. But in the end, it's a boring activity and concept, and I wish it changed.
Oh, and if you do have an easy way to obtain massive amounts of dusklight shards without reloading Maevic Square a million times, then don't be an arse about it, just tell me. I'm not a fan of this feature as a whole, though, and I think I've made my point clear that this is more than me being mad about being around that British prick for any longer than I have to be.
You can get plenty of materials under half of an hour of farming because instead dropping around 1-3 in D1? In D2, they can drop four or more not just from collecting them in the environment but also from various activities like killing mini bosses in the area?

  • I preferred d1 infusion then to what we had in D2.

Doing 1 patrol mission on a planet gives 4 planetary resource materials. Doing a public event on the flashpoint planet, killing the optional boss gives 12 materials. Plus 4 from the event chest and that's an easy 16 from 1 public event. Doing the first Heroic story mission of the day gives 32 planet materials too if I recall too. That's not hard to me.
