So here I am about to get back in to Destiny after having quit the second game after doing Leviathan a few times... haven't bought either expansion.
Then I read Bungie's weird wording on the annual pass, and it left me with a deciding factor as to whether or not I buy;
Does not owning the Annual Pass mean that I would be locked out of the activities, gear and other things that each of the events offers?

Stuff on the left everyone gets. Stuff on the right annual pass required. https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/47163

2 RepliesYes the annual pass is basically Year 2's expansion Pass.
-
1 ReplyYou don’t need the annual pass until Winter

I'll wait and see how I'm doing nearer the time. I'm sure the annual pass, or each bit will be available to buy nearer the time.

It is very simple. Pay if you want new content. Don't pay and you get the free seasonal events, IB, etc., but none of the new gear or weapons that are released specifically to the annual pass holders. Another thing - no annual pass and you get no new raid lairs.
-
1 ReplyDon't worry, enough non-paying players will whine enough to somehow get access.
-
1 ReplyIt's exactly what the road map says: The left column is free for everyone, the right column is for players who purchased the annual pass.

7 RepliesOf course that is what if means. What kind of annual pass provides free content?

You’ll still have access to events like the dawning or festival of the lost. The content the pass gives is more like dlc, although this dlc is more activity focused rather than a short main story like curse of Osiris or warmind

5 RepliesThat’s exactly what it means. Why charge for it if the content was available free to all players?
-
Yes, exactly the same as all other dlc.
