Have you tried the humble fusion rifle? Or any good SMG? Better map positioning? An actual plan of attack instead of just running in and hoping things work in your favor?

2 words, Map size. Most maps are too small as it is, then there's team shots so while you're focusing on someone at a range, another shotgun can kill you or a titan with shoulder charge, etc.
