So I spent about 30 mins dismantling mods then went to do some PvP, while chatting away to my team I accidentally deleted 945 mod components....... Instead of redeeming a crucible token.... Took me a year to save them :/
Edit: how come we can delete multiple mod components (it wipes them all in 1 go) but we could never have mass shader deletion.... Unreal
Edit 2;: I would suggest if anyone's hoarded mods to just keep them in your vault n dismantle them as/when you need them. Mw core/mod components should be added next to legendary shards/glimmer/dust
Thanks for all the support, I'm over it now. Will be much more cautious in future, hopefully bungie will address the situation as this happened to many people it seems. The option to lock some consumables would seem to be the best option

One year later, still no protection for mods and cores.....I just did the same thing with about 160 mod components.....all because I was curious if it gave you legendary shards...

2 Repliesyou can delete all of them at once because they do not reward you with anything. They said many times the reason we cannot mass delete shaders is because the system counts each of them as an item and each of them gives you a reward.

1 ReplyEdited by Chubbums: 8/28/2018 6:23:44 PMThat's a lot of work down the drain. Don't know if they have logs for individual players for games like Destiny 2, but if they can restore deleted characters in Destiny 1 for a kid they could possible restore your components. I'd try to get a hold of a bungie. I wasn't aware it deleted the entire stack.

I feel ya. I did the same thing last week. Was like “I wonder if these give you anything when you break em down.”........whole stack gone! YAY!!!! I managed to get the elements I wanted on about a dozen guns grinding this week though. Still, sucks to be us.

I'd rage so much if I did this. In D1 I dismantled all my armor materials on accident, thinking the same thing. I don't realize how precious they were till that money lol

1 ReplyEdited by Galaxyfarer: 8/28/2018 6:15:51 PM945 ? I only had 45 !!! Sorry bro.

2 RepliesEdited by MortalLiability: 8/28/2018 6:14:34 PMYou can mass delete stuff that doesn’t offer rewards. It’s the rewards that made mass shader deletion impossible.
-
I remember that feeling very well...Ugh.!! There should be an undo feature/option.

3 RepliesWhat are the mods for?
-
Oh god... No...

1 ReplyDude...I’m sorry. Hope you have some gunsmith materials saved up.
-
Dude that hurt even mean I'm sorry and not for deletion reason but my OCD I try to keep all my tokens and trade in items in the vault
-
I totally agree with edit one. In d1 I accidentally deleted 200 exotic shards back when they were actually useful. 🤢
-
Holy BLAM that sucks!!!! You are on point about the deletion factor though, makes no sense how that works!!!!!!
-
Guess I'll stop ranting now, hopefully some sort of protection for mods/mw cores will be put in place for future. Maybe keep them at the end of inventory or something well away from other consumable items. Hope people don't be as careless as me & lose track of what they're doing while socializing

1 ReplyI feel your pain. Did the same thing with etheric light back in D1. That shit was really hard to come by.
-
1 ReplyDude...ouch Did you catch it at the last second before deleting them? Did the same thing with my masterwork cores in March and just instantly froze up with anger lol
