So I've got my 400 armor and pretty much done what I want to do prior to Forsaken. As a matter of principle I don't engage in low percentage RNG hamster wheel activities like chasing Strike Catalysts. Even though I am opposed to the crap RNG associated with the EP SMP, Shotgun, and Sniper, they are just so sexy that I'll bend and waste some time to at least attempt to get them. So I figure, what the heck, let's just load into Mars and try to find some groups that are at least attempting EP and help with the use of Hammer Strike/Tractor Cannon etc.
Except such groups in the wild don't seem to exist (but they should).
One of four scenarios is typically encountered:
1) No one is attempting EP - understandable - folks have other things they need to do.
2) Solo players are firing EP to advance on a quest requirement or to complete a catalyst - again I get this and have done it myself. I'll stay away and let them get on with their business.
3) You may encounter 3-5 that are trying (this is a good sign), miserably failing (not good, but we've all got to learn), and then almost universally disband not long after (definitely not good).
4) You basically never encounter groups that are properly leveled and able to complete the event
The point I'm trying to make is that while it is certainly possible to spawn into Mars and participate in in a fun EP activity with randoms (at least theoretically), the probability of doing so is quite low, which is a shame, because this is REALLY should be an activity that has so much potential to bring random players together for a LOT of fun (like public events currently do).
For EP specifically, I wonder if the activity was originally designed more approachable to players in general prior to things like the streamer summit that attempted to add more activities to the game that would bring more viewers to their channels.
Anyway, EP is an awesome concept with TONS or potential, but just seems so poorly implemented. Maybe Bungie will do better in D2F...

1 ReplyThats an amazing post, you just miss to talk about how frustrating is to organize the whole thing just to see anyone else but you or your friends get the goodies, majority of people in my clan got their EP weapons from the lobbies i set but i can't help a friend I've been playing along since D1's beta to get a single -blam!-ing weapon among the 50 something EP completions i had him gone into because -blam!-ing RNG.
