Iron Banner Feedback. About the new version of Control.

I just played a bunch of Iron Banner in one night and I felt like leaving some feedback. One thing that I REALLY noticed was the fact that the new Power Play rule... is way too much. I don't remember how many games I played exactly; probably about 12-15 games, but out of all those games I believe that only 2 of them had both teams reach 100 points. All the rest of the games were a slaughter-fest; some in my favor, most were not. Most of the time when the other team got the Power Play I knew we were screwed. So literally I would hide in a corner of the map until the Power Play was over just so their wasn't a chance of accidentally feeding the other team 3 points. The ONE point I could get us for a kill during this time just wasn't worth the chance that I might kill trade and they'd get 3 points and we'd only get one. I'd have to kill 3 people just to break even if I died. Not worth it. Just decided to hide. And Every Time I got into a match and the other team had a fireteam of 5 or 6, my team of randoms got wrecked. Power Play, Power Play, Power Play, over and over again. I stayed for a few of these matches... But after awhile when the other team started snowballing Power Plays over and over again... I couldn't take it anymore and I went to orbit. A few matches went great and we won some. I even led my team to a come-from-behind victory once. (One of the 2 close games I played.) But most of the time it would just snowball. Sometimes in our favor, but ALOT of times in favor of the team with the most people playing together. Which was basically never MY team because I was solo. Also I noticed a spawning problem with a few maps. Where I would kill someone and they'd spawn basically right beside me. And once or twice the other way around. This I believe is due to map size. Everyone knows Bungie, that most of the maps in vanilla Destiny 2 and Curse of Osiris were designed with 4 vs 4 in mind. And for that size they work pretty well... except maybe for Burnout. In my opinion Burnout has NO PLACE having 6 vs 6 or even 4 vs 4. It is WAY too small to have more than 6 people on the map. It's good for 6 player Rumble and absolutely Perfect for... 3 vs 3. If you ever give us that again. But yeah most of the maps in the game currently don't support 6 vs 6 very well. Bad spawns and too much chaos in general. But yeah those were the main problems I saw during my run through the Iron Banner. A quick summary... 1. Too many Power Play snowballing episodes. (Please change the Power Play rule back too normal) 2. 5-6 man fireteams Still wreck a team of randoms. (Old criticism of the Crucible by ALOT of people. But still valid. With the Iron Banner at least give solo players a better chance. Even if that involves making TWO Iron Banner playlists. One normal playlist. One Rumble playlist. 3. Most of the current maps are Too Small for 6 vs 6. (Please change this with Forsaken. Please say you've made a bunch of Big maps designed for 6 vs 6. I'd even like to see Combined Arms size maps again.) But those are my observations with the last Iron Banner of Season 3. Thanks and God Bless. Rigel

  • I actually enjoyed the new power play rule. It made it so you actually had to defend points Instead of just rushing one point if you see them taking the 3rd point.

  • Iron banner has always been like that with solo players matching against 5 and 6 stacks but yea I agree the power play concept is fun when you are running as a clan but if you are playing solo there isn’t much you can do. I had a few games solo where my team of randoms beat a 5 or 6 stack but they were extremely close games.

    • Oh and if you were to give us Iron Banner Rumble the rewards/reputation you give out should be a little different for each placement. I know you guys are getting rid of tokens but; just as an example, I'll use tokens. 1st would get 10 tokens. 2nd would get 7 tokens. 3rd would get 5 tokens. And the rest would get 2 tokens. And just for fairness you would buff the rewards for the normal playlist as well... 8 tokens for the winning team and 5 tokens for the losing team. :)
