What does "being carried" mean to you ?
With the Whisper quest there are lots of posts talking about paid and free carries.
But what does being carried actually mean ?. How much participation or lack of, indicates a carry ?.
I know I cant do the Whisper quest. My jumping sucks so, knowing that my input would be non-existent and I would have to be carried, I don't do it.
But if I do a strike and my two team mates get 100 kills each and I get 25...is that a carry ?.
What if I do 10 revives in the strike and they do one each ?. Does my keeping the strike going by reviving count as more than just being carried ?.
Where do you think the line is drawn when it comes to carrying...or being carried ?.

1 ReplyBeing carried is like a fireman running into a burning building, but there are 2 guys infront of you putting out all the flames while you wait and once it's safe telling you to move forward. They get you to the person trapped and you walk out saying you rescued them....but did you really?

1 ReplyI feel like a carry is more along the lines of a Guardian not being able to accomplish the task. Trials for example. I would need a carry because I suck in PvP. Whisper is more like a guide. I know the map (a little) but not great at jump puzzle scenarios, my Fireteam will get to the boss faster. Therefore I will show up when the baddies are already being killed. I am not as fast as many so I end up killing less but if the other Guardians traveled at my speed, I can hold my own. Also a carry imo doesn’t necessarily mean the one being carried is actually trying to learn it. If they are trying to get a grip on the objective then to me it is more of a guide/Sherpa scenario.

[/quote] If I estimate that an hypothetical fireteam composed exclusively of me and clones of me could [i]not [/i]have done something I just did with other people, then I was most likely carried. But I don't worry too much about that. Sometimes I'm the hero, and sometimes someone else is.

1 ReplyI carried people though the Whisper mission many times and by carry I mean they generally make it to the big grassy room before it’s over. For strikes it’s a little harder to judge, Honestly as long as you help kill the boss and get revives your pulling your weight. Kills is a pretty poor way to tell if someone’s gotten carried.

Was carried in Trials by my friends in Destiny, they helped me go flawless , i tried to shoot the opposition but didnt do great but that was defiantly a carry lol

Carried = No matter what effort you put in the Task is still accomplished. Sitting in the Corner Dancing or shooting enemies to help.

Being carried means playing as a hunter and having a titan or warlock do all the work while the hunter just goes invis and spams wombo combo

1 ReplyI make these posts. Free carries, no lvl or knowledge required. When I say carry I mean I’ll be halfway through the adds by the time most people get there. I can solo everything if need be.

3 RepliesCarried = You not doing anything. I've been carried before for various activities, doesn't feel as a good when you get the items, but then I remember... That I've now got the items and that's all that matters.

If you don't activate a single plate/conflux/door or kill any of the mini bosses, you're probably being carried. Also, if I'm all the way to the boss trigger, waiting for you for +5 minutes because you are 3 rooms back, clearing adds in the hopes of dropping a catalyst, you're being carried. Turning a 10 minute strike into a 30 minute encounter means you're being carried and you're a tiny bit of a dick.

4 RepliesFor the whisper quest. Not getting to the Adds portion and getting the completion is a total carry. For strikes, 2 100+ kills to your 25, is pretty much a carry. But are you in a solo que and matched up with a two-some, then in that case, absolutely. If it is three randoms matched for heroic, then less of a carry. In a raid, kill count does not matter as much as were you able to complete your assignment. Can't kill your dog in gardens - carry. Can't use the skull in Argos, carry. SOS, don't even bother.

4 RepliesCarried imo refers to players of superior experience, gear, or skill clearing an instance or instances for the sake of completion or reward for a player of lesser experience, gear, or skill.

1 ReplyCarried to me implies that you just want the completion/loot, and you get with a team that does 90% of the work for you. And you go [i]into[/i] it with those intentions, all parties involved. Being the bottom of the leader board is just a matter of skill or effort. Guiding is different. Teaching someone or showing them the ropes is not a carry, because you're showing them how to do it for themselves in the future. The old thing applies about "give a dude a fish, he eats for a day; teach a dude to fish he eats every day."

To me being carried means a player is willing to help you with something you struggle a lot with and do it for you just to make you happy. I'm not gonna lie I was carried during trials of osiris BUT there were moments I actually saved the team before we lost. My team was down and I was a nightstalker. I panicked and used invisibility because I wanted that win. Somehow I was able to not only sneak past the enemy team who were guarding my teams dead bodies but also resurrect both of them and win the match. That was the best game I've ever done.
