I believe I made a post about this awhile ago
Destiny is both an FPS and a light MMO. The FPS side of the community are used to leveling up and getting rewards incredibly fast, the MMO side of the community are used to long grinds and slow progression. Because both sides of the community are so different when it comes to feedback they often argue about which opinion is right.
I find it fascinating how Bungie unintentionally created these two almost political factions within the community. You also got to feel bad for them to, they say you can't please everyone and Bungie are the text book example when it comes to Destiny

I definitely agree that Destiny appeals to players that enjoy grinding. Which was even slower in D1 than it has been in D2. But I like slower constant progression rather than quick progression and then I’m bored with the game after 2 weeks.
