I am one of the approx 9000 players that got [armory]Redrix's Claymore[/armory]. I am by no means a PVP god but I played all the matched and ground to 2100 glory. I only took place in that grind because I was promised that the gun was not going to be obtainable after season 3. That was a lie. Having a clone available that not only has the same perks but will have randomly rolled barrels/mods completely devalues that grind.
Bungie said they wanted to do more for the hardcore players and they want items to matter. This addition is the antithesis of that. If you want people to care about items they obtain in your game you can't give them away, that's how you end up with launch D2. It's like them going [quote]Not many people got the Acrius catalyst... Let's have it drop from grinding strikes.[/quote]

Right now, I'm never going to use my Claymore again once season 4 drops and I have the Broadsword. Just a waste of my time. Another grind for an emblem.

Good. Just because I dont dedicate my life to PVP, it doesnt mean im not 'hardcore'. I spend ALOT of time playing this game and everything in it should be obtainable. I wouldnt complain if the Crucible was actually a balanced game experience but its not. TTK and a lack of legitimate competitive nature are absent from making the game's PVP special. This is most likely due to how imbalanced each class is when compared to each other, eg, Health, Melee range, Abilities etc. Its not the grind to get the weapon that sucks, its the poor game mechanics that result in frustration, eg, Loss Streak Penalties?? Wtf. Even Bungie acknowledged this and changed it for S4. To be honest, I dont know whats better, the fact the Broadsword will be available via a quest or the fact the entire Claymore community is salty about the quest. Get over it. Bungie has favored the PVP side of this IP from day 1. All the weapon tweaks and balancing is because of PVP. There is a clear line between both PVE and PVP modes and this proves it. I cant wait to get a God Roll Broadsword. Even if I NEVER use it, im still going to get it, just because I can. Keep your emblem, I certainly wont be that impressed when I see it. Good for you!

So because you can’t thrive in pvp or don’t want to you should just get it handed to you? Well I want all the prestige gear and shaders for the raids because I think they suck and I shouldn’t have to do them.

Fully masterwork Whisper, and 4 more Catalyst to work on. And I’ve got 400 max solstice points But you’ll never get claymore or broadsword!!

Raids are cheesy mate never had any difficultly with them. Even when I did I didn’t cry I just got good lol. 😂

I agree with you. I knew I would never get the gun but respect for those that could. Now Bungie is making a long, but manageable grind for an identical gun that anyone can get with a lot of time...and patience.

Considering how extremely long this quest is, it would take me 2-3 months to get the Broadsword. So I def want to get the Claymore within this final window. Further, the pinnacle accomplishments of mine in Destiny were getting max Grimoire and Flawless Raider. If I don't get the Claymore while I had the chance, I'll be missing out on the rarest gun and an even rarer accomplishment.

With this decision Bungie made 9k players(propably way less since not everyone is that childish) angry which is quite manageable number. And that quest for broadsword... Is not easy because Destiny 2 PvP is extremely repulsive for some people.

The Claymore was ultimately going to be literally nothing but a trophy now that random rolls are going to be a thing. Thankfully it’s a small number that actually cares, so everybody is gonna have a 2nd chance at a version of the Claymore that will actually be relevant.
