All the DS games (normal 3ds and OG DS). Gen 1 is a digitsl download. I think gen 2 is the same as gen 1, though imo it'd be better to go with the gen 2 remakes on DS. You cant play the original gen 3, but it does have 3ds remakes. Have fun!

My New 2DS struggles with more than 3 Pokemon the screen, the frames are going to be bad with more than 2 Pokemon on the screen for the Doorstop. It's a turn based game so frame drops don't mean as much as, say, an FPS. Gen 2 might also be on the New 3/2DS only, as well, but I think the non-GBA games are all available.

It can run almost any DS/DSi/3DS game. Bear in mind that the 2DS's performance will chug on the more graphic-intensive 3DS titles, but it will still work. Of all the Pokemon games, the ones you should really play are Pokemon Sun/Moon. Fantastic story, memorable characters, and a few other twists and surprises.
