For those saying that overused doesn't equal overpowered....i'm afraid that is the case for Destiny 2.
Let me rephrase this post. Cause clearly some of you are not understanding what I am saying....
To defend my logic...
Right now, the traveler’s judgement is not everywhere in the crucible because most people don’t know how good it might be.
NOW there is a difference between something being OP and something that can counter something.
If the traveler’s judgement can counter a GL, then I wouldn’t class it as OP. The difference with GL is that it can out shoot pretty much anything. Even 2 burst some people.
IF the travelers judgement could 2 shot people, let’s just say, it WOULD be OP. I mean, a sidearm that could 2 shot people? Insane! And guess what? When people find out that it can 2 shot people, they WILL use the weapon to easily dominate in the crucible and have a great advantage. The weapon will become OVERUSED. If people know that they have access to a 2 shot sidearm....they will use it PERIOD. When people see the opportunity to wield an OVERPOWERED weapon, they WILL take it!
See my logic? When the weapon is discovered to be OVERPOWERED it will become OVERUSED.
If a terrible weapon was overused, of course it wouldn't be overpowered. You should look at my reasoning in the bigger picture and not take it so literal.
The thing is though, in this game, NO ONE will use a terrible weapon, why should they if it gives them a disadvantage? A terrible weapon WILL NOT be overused. That's a fact.
Most of you took my post so literal in the sense that in general, THE MOMENT a weapon is overused it is overpowered. NO.
IN THIS GAME, when a weapon is OVERUSED it is usually the one that is OVERPOWERED.
Please, you MUST be able to understand this. I cannot make it any simpler to understand :D

I hate GL with a passion. I use scout rifles mostly and it’s annoying that they need to tap me 3 times while I need four shots.
-
I think we should judge the whole meta=op on a case by case basis, as in the og mythoclast was op when it first came out by having far and above dmg vs other weapons of the day, same could be said of the thorn/last word meta of yr 1. By contrast however both in d1 and d2 the mida was overused for a time and the literal gimmick of the mida is that its supposed to be a flawlessly balanced scout rifle thats very easy to use, but the mida has never been nor will ever be the “strongest” scout in destiny, i agree that graviton is very strong but i think that particular weapons problem rests with the ease of use vs being hidiously stronger than all kinectic/energy weapons.
-
1 ReplyI'm reminded of Grasp of Malok and Party Crasher +1 in D1. If its OP it WILL BE OVERUSED. Simple deductive reasoning will show you that.
-
I hate the graviton and feel it is a bit OP but the arc strider I have to disagree with. I tried mine and most of the time I got shot out of my super only getting one kill or even no kills and sadly it was graviton that did it most of the time. I have actually gotten to where I even hate the sound of the graviton cause that is all I hear in crucible.
-
I found out that Cold Heart, works really well against GL, usually kills them faster then they you
-
Arcstrider is good, not overpowered, Wormhusk is broken as hell though.
-
3 RepliesYeah I agree with neither. They are powerful yes but I’ve seen so many Arcstrider get shut down recently they really don’t seem super amazing tbh. I’ve shut down a bunch myself when I used a slug shotgun. And I still was sometimes out ran/out jumped by titans when mid Arcstrider too. And graviton, well yes it is obviously a strong gun. But is there a lot of counters to it? Yes. What was op? Pre nerf Prometheus lens. Literally the only thing that could counter it was another Prometheus lens or some heavy weapons. Graviton can be countered by a whole variety of weapons. Other pulses (Relentless, The Marine, Time Worn Spire, Darkness before) Sidearms (Last of the legion, Travelers Judgement 5) Some auto rifles I’ve actually beaten graviton with (Braytech Winterwolf, Orimunds Anvil) Hand cannons (Judgement, Dire promise, pls fashioned, DFA, Living memory). Graviton can be countered and isn’t a “cant be beat” type of weapon like Prometheus lens used to be.

Edited by J: 8/20/2018 1:39:05 AMI used to think that until I got Polaris Lance. If you stay out of GL ridiculous range youll do if fine. If you don't use Polaris the next best thing is to not engage anyone with GL if you can(if there entire team isn't using it.) Also the one thing I noticed about Destiny is that the player base flocks to whatever consistently kills them and most do it out of spite.

Overused DOES MEAN Overpowered (Graviton Lance and Arcstriders)
Nah. "Overused "simply means that too many weapons and supers are under-powered. Bring others up to the level of Graviton and Arcstrider.

1 ReplyDid some of you even READ my post to the very end? I NEVER said they should be nerfed and I don't intend on talking about nerfs. I am just stating facts from MY point of view. It's MY opinion. This is the FORUMS, the FEEDBACK FORUMS. If you don't like what I say and are going to get salty about it, then don't reply to this post, cause I just won't listen to you. Don't waste your energy. Play the game how you want. No one is stopping you. Just allow those who have feedback to give, to give feedback. If you stay silent about issues and shy away, the problems with the game will grow and it will be too late. It's exactly what's going on with the entire gaming industry. So I repeat, if you read this post and are going to get salty, DON'T REPLY, and LEAVE. Allow us to give our opinions without being attacked.

2 RepliesEdited by TotalDramaGamer: 8/19/2018 6:30:20 PMOkay, then by this logic, we can assume that everything 'not used' is underpowered OR okay, in all respects. Right? This is the logic you're using. You have the extreme on one end, thus, the other extreme must be true since there can only be two sides to the logic. Let me paint a picture... GL and VW get nerfed into the ground. Literally. Arcstrider reduced to half duration and half range. Arcbolts are rendered useless due to 'delayed cast' on the scan. What happens after that? It's easy. Crimson gets this treatment next. It is THEE BEST hand cannon for crucible. It heals you, it has great range, it auto reloads, it'll destroy autos and pulses if they get too close and can stop an SMG or Sidearm rusher if they're dumb. The only reason this gun isn't in all the 'nerf posts' is because of the GL and VW that exist. That's literally it. As soon as they go away, Crimson becomes 'overused'. Dawnblades and Hammers also get the next wave of nerf posts. Why? They're fast, they're hard to avoid, and decently hard to kill if they're smart, at least, way more than the 'not so good' crucible classes. Now... go back to your logic. You say anything overused is OP, which again, denotes that anything NOT overused is NOT OP. So... what happens when the OP items get nerfed... and new overuse comes into play? Are they now OP? But wait... I thought they weren't OP... because clearly they were 'fine' earlier...
Now we have a contradiction. And you come to realize that overuse cannot equal overpowered on simply a popularity scale.
And. The. Cycle. Continues. On and on and on and on and on like the toilet bowl that it is until everyone leaves the game. We're done with this toilet bowl logic.

1 ReplyYesterday I tried to play with the jade rabbit (for completing the catalyst) Also From long distance graviton lance destroy me, and with its low ttk i died also if I shoot first

It's is overused...and op nurf iut😈

7 RepliesLets compare your example with something from destiny 1: The No Land Beyond was considered to be the worst gun in the game. Following the nerf of shotguns and the changes to the special economy, what was the following meta? Ice breaker, side arms and... No Land Beyond. Heres the funny thing about metas: they arent actually about the weapons. theyre about the effectiveness of the players who use them. There will always be a meta. Competitive players will always find the most effective way to win, and as soon as they do, other players will copy it.
-
Graviton is crazy powerful. It’s in a class of its own in terms of how many bursts needed to kill and exotic perks. Explosions and seeker bolts is kind of OP.
-
I would agree with the Graviton but not the Arcstrider. I have the arcstrider bottom tree and use the dodge and I'm still dying within 3 shots of a graviton/hand cannon. It's ridiculous.
-
7 RepliesSo if Travelers Choice becomes overused in comp by the community, I guess it needs a nerf

3 RepliesA weapon that is overused is simply that.....overused. A weapon (or class) is overused because it is the best solution to the combat conditions presented to the player base, by a game that is UNBALANCED for other reasons. Graviton Lance is not "overpowered" for the simple reason that there are MANY guns that can defeat it head-to-head when the two guns are in the hands of similarly skilled players. IOW, the weapon can be directly countered. Prometheus Lens when it was first released was OP....and NO other weapon in the game could kill as fast..and there was no effective counter to it other than to use it yourself. The reason why GL is overused is very simple it is the most effective tool in the current TEAM SHOT meta. Its the most effective tool for suppressing and punishing team fire....and when used against teams that want to mob up against you...it can quickly produce multi-kills that punish that behavior. It is also used because it is the best COUNTER BY teams that wish to mob up and team shoot, to someone using GL to suppress them. Turning two GLs on anyone trying to stand up to the dominant camp-and-team-shoot or mob-up-and-death-ball strats....will quickly find themselves being melted. Nerf GL....and all you're going to see is the next most efficient weapon step into the gap. Then you're going to be here whining about Vigilance Wing being OP. Nerf VW....and all you're going to see is the next most efficient weapon step into the gap. Then you're going to be here whining about The Crimson being OP. Nerf The Crimson....and now we're back to the 450 RPM auto rifles being the meta...and you'll be complaining about them. Nerf those...and we're back to vanilla Destiny 2, and the MIDA meta. The only way you displace GL without BREAKING the game, is you get BUNGIE to stop designing maps and playmodes that all funnel players in the same repetitive engagements at the same repetitive distances. Or had you noticed that---while all the DLC maps may LOOK different----they all play IDENTICALLY.

Meh a masterwork jade rabbit holds its own

6 RepliesOverused doesn't mean overpowered. When D2 released, everything basically had identical kill times, everything killed slow and there were still meta weapons. Was anything in D2's release remotely close to overpowered? We all no the answer is no. The only thing that's op are the tears of players who can't accept they got killed.

5 RepliesI agree with your post to some extent (Arcstrider main with 130k+ kills) although I would like to put a little more perspective on pvp in general. The popularity of the arcstrider hunter has grown because of wormhusk in particular as the dodge ability reloads quickly and the damage resistance of wormhusk is quite high when using it. However, this problem lies with the wormhusk rather than hunters generally. The same goes for Raiden Flux (which alot of people complain about) since it increases duration and dps output, however these are exotics that boost super performance, they don't change how op a bass super is, they simply enhance it. For example, what is the win rate and kda of an arcstrider without any exotics? I'm not necessarily dis-agreeing with you, nor am I agreeing with you (but having played all the sub classes on every class of the game) I would have to say as far as supers are concerned, titan hammers top tree, titan striker and warlock dawnblade are far better than arcstrider in most situations. This is especially true if you do a 1v1 between a hammer titan and a arcstrider hunter in mayhem. As far as you touting the Nightstalker as having the highest win rate, that was mainly because of radar having been in competitive, and so being able to go off radar was very useful. After radar was removed being able to go invis was nullified and the nightstalker no longer really had a roll to play in trials. Therefore the more useful super was Arcstrider anyway, since it allowed players to be more aggressive during supers. On your final point, all arc based roaming supers had a speed increase, not just AS - a Hammer titan and an arcstrider have the same speed. + A titan can cripple any subclass par dawnblade by titan skating so I don't know why you put this point on there lmao. Anywho, I hope I added my opinion to this lmao. (You'll notice I didn't even address weapons because I agree with the OP - pulse rifles are far too op lmao)
-
I can agree with this arcstrider need to be balanced with the hit range being ridiculous but doesn’t help that GG and night stalker arnt in the best place rn but hopefully we’ll see more diversity when forsaken rolls around

Do you remember what folks were saying about Mida Multi-tool? Is that overpowered? Was it ever?
