Raid culture is elitist garbage

I have over 500 hours in this game and have done everything high level of major consideration. prestige nightfalls over score thresholds, trials, escalation protocol, you name it. i have not done a SINGLE raid because since the day this game launched on pc i have been refused entry into raid parties for not having done the raid already. how is this a community of any worth when such elitism bars daily players from a huge piece of important content? i have tried clans, but all that happens is i get told to buzz off in a more personal setting than if i spent two hours wasted on reddit. the guided game system was an abject failure, specifically because of the impatience and masturbatory culture behind running raids in this game that made it needed in the first place. if such importance is going to be placed behind raids, Bungie needs to do more community management to actually make it possible for more than a fraction of a percent of the games population. stronger encouragements for aiding newer raiders? incentives to try activities with clanmates you havent played with yet? punishments for regularly refusing activities with clan mates? not sure, its not my job to fix this. what i do know is that this aspect of the game is socially broken to its core and its horse crap that i have this many hours in a game and i still havent done the raid, despite wanting to.

  • I joined a Spire of Stars phase 2 boss last night with 0 clears (although I have hundreds of other raid clears). The fireteam leader was very friendly and helpful and we finished it 2nd try. It was awesome. Then I hopped on D1 and joined Aksis Phase 2. Spent the next 3 hours trying to teach and help a team complete it who said they were “good” but couldnt even get to damage phase. You win some, you lose some.

  • saying it slowly: make.your.own.group. Can't get kicked from something you have control over.

  • Same old nonsense posts, make your own group, plenty of options out there and players willing to help.

  • Weird, I just found 10 groups with no requirements. These types of posts are getting really old. You're purposefully focusing on the negative aspect instead of taking the plunge and getting it done. For every post asking for emblems, previous completions etc there's 10 without. Maybe stop trying to join groups looking for quick clears if you're unexperienced? The 100 has a request a sherpa service, maybe try that?

    • Doesn’t feel that way to me on Xbox. I always seem to find groups willing to teach.
i have tried clans, but all that happens is i get told to buzz off in a more personal setting than if i spent two hours wasted on reddit
That suggests to me that there's more going on here than you just not having done the raid before. LFG is anonymous. So people are unwilling to take a risk on an unknown quantity. But in a clan, people either know you....or know OF you. So word gets around pretty quickly as to who are the people who are difficult to get along with...and if you get that reputation, no one is going to want to raid with you.

    • See, the thing is, if you post on any lfg that you want a group of people who also can’t find groups for the raids and I guarantee it would be filled in seconds. They’ll be unseasoned and inexperienced at the raid, probably haven’t done it before at all. You would struggle through it, would probably take 4 or 5 hours, but by the end of it you would probably have a permanent raid group and never have to lfg again, and you would learn more each time you do a raid. But it sounds like you don’t want that do you. You want to join a group of experienced raiders to carry you through, you won’t learn anything, you’ll probably get the easy add clearing job at every encounter. But at least it will be done in 45 minutes or an hour. Then you can come back to the forum next time you try to lfg again and have a pity party about it then as well.

Okay, I am calling some BS. On a regular basis on Destiny 2 PC LFG I see players asking for help on first clears, after about 10 minutes they get a full party. You clearly are searching in the wrong area if you aren't getting sherpas. Hell, I got sherpad on PC within 5 minutes of posting for Prestige Leviathan. Edit: Heck they just added a looking for raid mentor section of their lfgs and I see usage as early as this morning.

      • Make your own group, ask for a Sherpa, join the PC recruitment discord, sherpas are there all the time. Watch a YouTube guide and sneak your way in to a group that says “know what you’re doing”.

      • I would suggest finding a Clan that doesn't give a shit about stats/clears. I found one and been happy about it since.

        • Trials, EP, and nightfall have nothing to do with raids. Start your own group if you want the experience. Because I assure you, majority of experienced groups won't take you in because they dont want to take the time to teach you. It has nothing to do with elitism. The issue is a matter of time. Their time is just as valuable as yours.

        • It's impossible for Bungie to do anything about this, the people hosting can decide who they want in their fireteam and who they don't want. You can't force people to play with you. You should try looking for sherpa groups or groups of new raiders if its your first time doing a raid.

        • When this happens make your own group. You aren’t the only one in that situation, so you will get a group in seconds. This was how I finished spire of Stars.
