They probably did increase the drop rate when they said they did. In fact they probably doubled it from 0.00001% to 0.00002%.

Haha yeah, you're probably not far off. To be honest I haven't really done nearly as many as I was when they first became available. It seems from what people are saying that things maybe have 'improved' a little.
