Bungie seriously needs to realize how bad bubble will continue to be if it doesn't give SOME level of support on the outside. At this point it's just a panic super for pve and a way to cheese countdown. It's new buff is stupid and honestly feels quite insulting that, rather than just give back what titans had at first, they continue to give to the warlocks without trading us anything back. They even took the utility of rally barricades and just handed it to the warlocks in the form of an exotic. Ugh it's just so annoying. Titans only have ad control as their specialty but all 3 classes can do this. The versatility they are trying to give titans is falling flat on its ass because they are taking the "punch everything" titan meme too damn seriously. I like blowing shit up and beating things to death with my bare hands as much as everyone else, but everything being only that seriously gets old. Sentinel sucks as a support subclass and has better offensive capabilities. Commanders shield is just shit aegis with no damage boost to allied fire so it's just a big shield to make it seem like you are helping (as dps decreases because of it). Sunbreaker blows shit up. Burning maul causes enemies to get dizzy. Fist of havoc smashes. Thundercrash SMASHES. Bubble is the insane asylum designed to keep the crazies (and the voices in your head that try to escape) safe. It's cool titans are finally being more focused towards a offensive subclass, but I miss the optional support role of bubble. It was a nice shake up to being a pure dps class. I'm sure hunters felt relieved in some way when nightstalkers became a thing. I don't know though, it just feels so uninteresting to be playing exactly the same again. Just run in and smash... As much as people probably will disagree with me in terms of commanders shield...3 words: Well of radiance. It heals fast as shit, increases damage, has a long duration, and is perfect for boss damage and such. Commanders shield allows allies to shoot through your shield without amplifying the damage, so really having it on your team just makes it a waste when during most pve boss phases the boss will be staggered to death or basic healing rifts could suffice to keeping you alive. It's essentially not going to be useful for raids because it lacks the utility it tries to bring to the table. Protecting your allies DOES NOT MATTER unless it allows you to help them kill the enemy.

  • I don't disagree that the Ward needs a buff to really have much of a use case, but ... you realize that what they "traded us back" was the Sentinel Shield, right? We got a whole other super in place of the old Ward, and then part of the old Ward on top of that. Ward needs a buff or to just be replaced, but Sentinels aren't hurting here.

Sentinels don't really do all that much either though. It's a super with a shield but it works far better as an offensive ad clear, something titans already have a crazy abundance of. If sentinel/commanders shield was meant to be a defensive super, why do they lack defensive fire power or support to buff their allies? Why did they create sentinel shield despite it having no real defensive capabilities? Normal sentinel shield block is small and sometimes allies bullets collide with it to drain the super faster. It doesn't have perks to enhance titan barricades. Bubble can only protect you on the inside and provide no support to allow you to combat the enemies firing at you Commanders shield is just a big sentinel shield trying to be a mobile bubble, but not only did they make it an offensive super again, it also has nothing to reinforce it's defensive capabilities. You can't tell me that when you looked at well of radiance being a healing support class, then looked at commanders shield and you couldn't see a huge difference in synergy. Warlocks can consume their grenades to heal their allies and grant overshield, titans can allow allies to generate more grenade energy and regenerate health with the melee, but it is unknown if the super itself can proc this effect. Maybe it can.

  • How do you know bosses are going to be staggered? We haven't played the new content, we don't know what kind of new mechanics will be involved. You are also missing a huge bonus to Commander's Shield. Mobility. You and your fireteam can march down the enemy safely behind the shield. When there is a lull in enemy fire, the titan super can go offensive, and then back to blocking as needed.

  • My problem isn't that it's a hybrid super that can do both, it's that it lacks proper reinforcement to be good at either. Yes having the shield be mobile is great, but in what situation would marching down a lane be better to use commanders shield over say burning maul? Sure you can protect your allies, but if your goal was only to protect until you can go on the offensive...what are you even using it for? In what scenario would this be beneficial? Another thing to think about is, is why would they create bosses that you would need commanders shield for? This isn't vault of glass where you needed aegis to survive his onslaught of bullets. If they created a super specifically to counter the way they designed bosses how do you think the other classes will feel? Imagine HAVING to have one to beat a boss. One last thing. I believe it can still be a good super, it just needs to support it's allies better while they shoot through the shield. Maybe it increases the damage of the bullets that travel through it. Maybe it causes them to generate an overshield in a small area behind the shield. What's going to keep your allies standing if you go down? How do you support them in killing ads that overwhelm you without risking yourself? These are questions that fall on commanders shield because it has big shoes to fill thanks to titans severely lacking any real support.

  • It seems to me you are looking at things from a far more selfish standpoint than one would typically expect as regards a support class. Sure, a big, twirling, fiery maul is more personally gratifying and provide more personal kills than holding a large shield protecting your teammates. However, just because you lack the imagination to see how and when it would be useful doesn't mean it's useless ot even less useful than a damaging super. Here's just one very basic example. Ever notice how all the bosses have stupid powerfull knockback/stomp attacks? Imagine being able walk your entire team into IKELOS shotty range, all safe from knockback? Then, once the stagger begins/in between stomps being able to shield bash away. And have we learned yet if blocking with thia shield will generate orbs the way sentinel blocking does currently? Anyways, the possibilities will be huge. I'm sorry you don't see them.

I don't see the possibilities because there's nothing to support it. I really don't think the shield will prevent knock back, besides playing highly defensive there won't be many opportunities to make proper use of the super because it's more fixated in trying to be both offensive and defensive. I believe there will be opportunities for it to shine, but not as many as the bubble once had or with what the well of radiance can do now. Is it wrong of me to be selfish though? I'll be the one to block all the damage with the shield, shouldn't there be something that reinforces it in terms of gameplay so it's not just me standing there for 30 seconds? What can I do as the shield to support my allies besides blocking for them. How can I help them with the potential loss of dps that comes with me blocking for them. How often do you believe it would be necessary for well of radiance and commanders shield to be used simultaneously? What keeps it from feeling so overbearing? Besides that, is it wrong of me to want more for the super? I want it to amplify ally damage so they can make up for the damage I can't do. Or I want them to truly feel protected and maybe grant to them an overshield of some sort. Besides standing as a big shootable wall, how does the commander support his squad? I don't lack any sort of imagination for this particular super, I can understand it's potential, but it's lacking in that potential compared to say well of radiance. At what instance would you NEED this super to help you through risky situations that normal other supers can't already do? Why even block for your allies when you can just kill the threats in the first place? If they are too tanky then it just leaves your allies at a disadvantage because you can't support them with dps as well. I'll wait till I get to try it out though, because as it stands right now, with the way the games designed, this super doesn't appear to be a staple support super, just like bubble.
