Has anyone noticed that the scoring in control doesn't seem to make much sense?
Getting kills while you control a zone gets you points, more zones more points. So why does it seem the losing team is always able to suddenly turn the tide even though they had advantage for a shorter period of time and got fewer kills.

I'm more worried that the game only seem to have 1 mode now, control.

2 Repliesimo, bungie should only have zone control from d1. that way, everyone can focus on the control portion of the match instead of just shoot what moves. zone control >control.
-
That never happens.

5 RepliesYou probably went a span of about 1 minute or two without killing anyone, whilst the other team were working in tandem and actively trying not to die while not having any zones. It happens all the time. Your team does well, then for a solid 30 or so seconds your team just can't kill anyone. By that time, that means the other team has secured zones AND have still been getting point while you (even though you have advantage) fall behind. And, btw, seeing as how you commented on others... Having advantage kills EARLY in the game does not prevent LATE GAME FAILINGS where these events often happen. If you stop getting points at any point in the game the match can flip regardless of your previous progress. That's just how it works. I've routinely seen games were one team quickly gets 50 points up on the other team and they still lose by the end. Early stats mean nothing if you can't keep it rolling.

You were being outkilled. Especially considering how you had 2-3 flags the whole game but only managed to have a 30-40 point lead (saw you mention that in a comment somewhere). With objective play like that, you should have been able to stomp them but you still didn’t And to address your point how everyone was positive and had more kills... remember that KD is KDA. So if half of your team shot at the same guy, you’d all get eliminations but only one point. So the other team must’ve been getting more solo kills and final blows than you (which is what actually matters for points)

2 RepliesEdited by crazycazza95: 8/13/2018 5:28:30 PMThey need to put more emphasis on controling zones as i have had many matches where my team lose even though we have multiple power plays. The opposite team just focuses on killing and not capping zones Edit: a good idea is to increase the score but every few seconds your team gain extra points depending on how many zones you control.
-
3 RepliesWait... control has an objective?
-
3 Repliesu get a point for every kill and having two flags double your points. Having three flags triple ur points per kill. as simple as that.
-
Bungie mechanics bro. Gotta throw participation trophies lest someone's feelings get hurt.
-
9 RepliesI hardly ever pay attention to the points in a Control match just because the score can shift suddenly like this. I dont focus on kills either. I'm either trying to cap or defend. There's always that one Randy Rambo who end the game with 30+ kills. I'm trying to make sure as many of those are worth as much as possible.

Edited by Reshsafari: 8/13/2018 6:22:32 AMControl is called control because you gotta control momentum. It is objective based but if you always dying but cap zones you still lose. Thankfully the speed at which you cap zones is changing because players with brains always get caps to tip the game in their favor. Capping zones is way too fast
-
9 RepliesHaving zones captured means nothing if your team cant secure kills. You can have a 3-0 lockdown and still lose because the opposition is just better at outright killing
-
I've had games where the other team suddenly jumped by almost 20 points for no reason. The kill feed says this person died by that weapon, or this guy got hit by a rocket, but that's just it; only two to three kills. No extra zone captures, no massive team slaughters, nothing at all but a few kills.

12 RepliesEdited by The Vigilante: 8/12/2018 8:24:42 PMSomeone may have answered this but maybe not, here’s how it works: Alright so say you have 1 Flag Captured and you or someone on your team gets a single kill. The 1 flag acts a point multiplier so 1(flag) x 1(kill) = 1(point). It works the same throughout, 2 Flags Captured and your teammates get 3 kills. 2(flags) x 3(kills) = 6 points. This is why even if you’re team has 0 flags and the enemy has 3 you can technically still not lose. You can draw at 0 if the enemy can’t get a single kill, however you can’t win but you can draw or lose. Power Play is absolutely vital for this reason, if you are Power Playing the enemy team, you can get 10 kills and get 30 points whereas they can get 100 and still get 0 points. This makes it the absolute easiest and fastest way to overcome an immense point deficit or a team who frags like crazy, but doesn’t Capture Flags.
-
They want it more, honestly.
-
Well, if you’re unlucky like me and always get matched with people who think it’s called “capture the most zones” and don’t CONTROL the zones then it doesn’t really matter.
-
Edited by starwarsforce789: 8/12/2018 7:15:36 PMIf a team makes a power play it triples all points earned. If not stopped quickly your team will rapidly lose the lead. Even with 2 points controlled it’s double points which will gradually give a team the lead. Control is all about objective play not kills.
-
It means they're out-slaying your team, and that is only exponentially more noticeable when they get an advantage.
-
2 RepliesScore manipulation, damage referee? Played a quickplay game last night, we were up 70-30 at one point, we loat 151-111. Don't see how we were outscored 120-40 to close out match.
-
Ya they need to go back to the d1 score system and let you check scores mid match
-
I have never noticed this. I don't have an all-seeing eye. but I have never seen the scoring funk up as I get a kill. Always seems to go up by the number of control points I currently have. I will say when a team is just straight out playing you in the kills department but they aren't keeping points cap, you can see this swing if they finally take more than you late in the game.
-
I think the spawns get manipulated if you have a big lead. I will start spawning into supers and notice that the team with a lead will get spread out. No biggie though as I like the challenge, but just an observation
-
10 RepliesBecause if a team gets a 2 or 3 Zone cap, you’re talking a 3-1 or 4-1 point advantage, so even trading kills is getting them closer to passing you.
-
3 RepliesAdvantage Kills. They add up quick.
