Crucible Labs Feedback - Showdown - 8/9 to 8/14

We saw a very positive feedback trend for the mode overall, but we also received some good feedback on areas to explore for improvement. We’ll be examining that feedback as we continue to close down Forsaken, and we’ll provide updates in the future as we have them. Speaking of updates… in our first TWAB post discussing the Crucible Labs debut, I spoke about how we started fairly simple with the mode Showdown. We met our goals for the rollout, but as noted, the reception of Showdown itself was fairly mixed. Iteration is a critical phase of development, and we’ve taken some time to iterate a bit on Showdown based on notes we gathered both internally and externally from all of you. Here’s the set of changes we’ve made for this next iteration: The round time limit has been reduced to 90 seconds Rounds now have a score limit of 10 Revives are now enabled Reviving a teammate before they respawn will take the point back from your opponents Whether you played Showdown in the first Labs or this will be your first time in the playlist, we hope you’ll drop in for a few matches and let us know what you think. Hit up the feedback forum with your thoughts after you’ve played! As with Lockdown, Labs will continue to drop standard Crucible rewards and contribute to your Valor rating, so your time spent here will also count if you’re working through your ranks for the Triumphs and armor.     • This is just my opinion but the effort you guys put into crucible is pathetic. Yes the new game mode looks fun all of the other game modes are basically the same. The build for pvp should be different then the weapon pve build. The rewards are awful in crucible.

      Your pvp is the biggest crap in gaming history and you couldn't balance it nor make it good to save your lifes! Never played a bigger s*** that lacks so much of everything, than this pathetic crap. Always 2-3 metas, lagfests and stupid nerfs on stuff that just makes the metas even stronger. Just stop this wimpy excuse of a pvp completely and focus on pve. The only thing that you know how to do at least half fine. P.s. would have liked to give you my obligatory -1, but see you good.

            • Since you have 6-7 game modes based around “most kills wins”, how about you throw us objective game mode lovers a bone and give us a legitimate capture the flag style game mode? Hell, none of the objective game mode lovers are being catered to, but you sure have given the competitive mode lovers everything they want

                • New game mode? Nope. Instead just more of the same. Clash/team deathmatch with modified rules. I think we the people have spoken when we say we do not want any more Clash variants. People have suggested actual new game mode ideas and classic ones such as, Capture the Flag. But instead we keep getting Clash after Clash after Clash. Look we made Clash with rounds, or Clash with only one life or Clash this and that. We are Clashed out!!

                • Not fun. Its just another version of clash. Can we get some interesting objective game modes or you now... multi-team? Maybe your own version of SWAT? Or perhaps capture the darn flag? Please?

                    does nothing till fix the new comcast speeds , since your not dedicate servers . do not matter comcast now at 10mb and 400mb , and pings coast to coast peer to peer at .300 ms. to avg 0.300ms . yet using a old dial up code . to ping at .999ms to .800ms . so we get free standby on peer to peer to host , if not , we get allow if in team they host off are connection. to do what they want . rest team like wtf, if there on slow isp . the only other is south korea and japan and uk , fibers networks on peer to peer .

                  • I really liked this mode. My friends didn't however. I didn't play it with them and they seemed confused by it. For me though. I really liked the sudden death round when the match went 2v2. I'd like to see this game mode in the game. I like that the rounds are limited to 10 kills wins the round. Crucible labs icon should be larger and more in the center of the screen. Or highlight it green. I didn't even know it was there until like 3 days ago when I played it. My friends didn't notice it either.

                  • I'm gonna bypass the questions you're asking and instead offer this feedback: Although it's nice that you are at least now asking for our advice in regards to what works and doesn't In these crucible labs matches, what [b]needs[/b] to be Bungie's focus is the current playlists we have. We are already losing Trials for next season which will be a couple months were the people that normally play Trials will now have to go play in the Comp playlists, which already has it's own set of problems with quitters, cheaters, etc. Quickplay it's is not perfect and needs to have the matchmaking fixed. Why not work on the existing and playlists we have and play now and worry about adding new/different playlists after.

                    • Instead of rehashing the concept of the “clash” game mode over and over with “different mechanics”, how about we try these out in crucible: Charge: We use the greed ball mechanic from spire of Stars. Arena is a rectangle with two goals on each end. 2 teams of 4, ball spawns in the center with perpetual greed. You have to get the ball and throw it in the other team’s goal. Players can pass and catch the ball, and can also intercept the ball. If the ball gets to 10 greed, you blow up and the ball drops. Players only have a sword hilt. Heavy spawns twice a game to give teams a potential power play. Rally: 3v3v3 capture the flag. The map is a triangle. Each point of the triangle is a team’s spawn and a team’s flag. Teams have to capture the other teams flags while defending their own. Teams get 1 point for capturing a flag. Round ends when the timer expires or when all flags have been captured. Teams get a point if their flag was not captured. The game goes 3rounds. If there is a tie after 3 rounds, there is a sudden death flag in the center for a 4th round. All teams can participate in the sudden death round, but only the teams tied for first can capture the flag. The flag can be used as a 1 hit melee weapon. However you cannot fire a gun while holding a flag. PERFECT game mode for faction rallies. If you were to choose to use either of these ideas (unlikely), please do not give me any credit. I want no compensation or credit, I just want you to use the ideas and make crucible more fun. The reason I want no credit is because I assume that IF you even wanted to use the ideas, you would refrain from doing so in fear that I (or someone else) would claim ownership of the ideas and/or seek compensation. I claim no ownership and I do not want compensation. I just want you to add game modes like these to the crucible. I am getting so bored with the same boring game modes in the crucible. We need game modes like these.

                      • I think, if you really want Crucible to be successful, you need to figure out how COD is programmed and copy what that developer created. COD multiplayer is vastly superior to anything Ive experienced in Destiny Crucible. -very little, if any, lag -excellent balance, both in ttk and across weapons -kill, or score, streaks are similar to Supers but they require skill to use them or sacrifice -there is a hardcore mode -there is a lobby for each game type, instead of all gametypes being mixed into 2 lobbies (which is just terrible) -there is a plethora of fun and interesting gametypes -bounties yield real rewards, in Destiny the rewards would be be bright dust and equipment Now, Zombies mode sucks and could really learn alot from your team.

Definitely feels like a less-tryhard version, but doesn't do anything new for me. [b]• Was anything confusing?[/b] No, the way the mode works was pretty clear from the beginning. [b]• Did anything seem missing?[/b] Showdown needs a way to make itself feel unique compared to other non-objective modes. If I want a laid-back experience I don't see why I'd play this over Clash/Supremacy. If I want a more sweaty experience I don't see why I'd play this over Survival/Trials. [b]• Was there a map it played better/worse on?[/b] I don't think this mode plays poorly on any map. [b]• Were there spawning issues?[/b] No. [b]• Were the rounds too short/too long?[/b] No. [b]• Was there a weapon or other sandbox combination that affected the game in a negative way?[/b] Not that I know of. I'm not the most experienced in Crucible.
