Do you prefer your games to be a physical copy or a digital copy?

Just out of curiosity.

Let's see, with a physical disc i still have to install the entire digital game, and I still need the disc to play it... hmmm. Tough choice here. /s

      • Physical copy makes for an easier install/reinstall, digital is easier purchase. I prefer physical still.

          • If you look into the technicality of it, if you buy a digital game, you don’t actually own a copy of it, you’re merely purchasing access to play it. Which can actually be taken away. If you have a physical copy however, you actually have ownership over that copy of the game.

          • I bought digital on my X1. With my PS4 now though, I'm buying physical whenever possible. Having the option to sell games back and get some money for them is nice.

          • Not much of a point to physical since the convenience is gone. You still have to install the game which can take up to an hour and you lose the convenience that digital has of quickly switching games. My friends and I would always switch between all the different CoD games and it'd be annoying to have to keep taking one disc put and putting another in. Now it's just click home -> games and apps -> game.

digital, being in a house with 5 other people that disc could get lost or damaged

            • I’d rather have physical myself but I do have a handful of digital copies.

            • Depends on the game. If there's a game that I really like, but is only available digitally, then that's the only way I will buy it. If there's a game that is available both physical and digital, then I will buy the physical copy.

            • I "upgraded" from a dead-reliable PS3 to a PS4 that randomly barfs disks. Digital copies are the only way I can reliably stay in the game.

              • If I know I am going to play the game a lot, I go digital. If I will play, then plan to sell, physical.

              • So my wife is playing Tricky Towers and then goes to bed so I can play No Man's Sky. No disc swapping necessary. Then this morning my son can play Minecraft and my daughter can play Tearaway Unfolded. No discs will be harmed in the process. That's the power of going all digital.

              • Physical just so I can trade them in when I'm done to get a bit off the next one.

              • These days, digital. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of tracking down a disc before I can play a game.

                • Old me liked physical because you could sell them back but now a days I buy less than 3 games a year including cheap indie games so they are usually games I know I’ll like and play for awhile. It’s also nice being lazy and not having to speak to the nerds at GameStop

It really depends on how much space the game takes up, how good the pre-order goodies are for buying physical the physical copy, prices/discounts, etc. I don't strictly prefer one or the other.

                • Depends on price if the digital copy is on sale for a bit cheaper than a physical copy then yes my only complaint about digital over physical is not getting $0.50 from gamestop towards another game.

                • Digital. I move my xbox around a bit and though i try my best to be gentle the disc reader tends to break.

                • Physical. For one, I just like to have the case, but beyond that, download times are shorter, and if my internet were to go down for whatever reason, I could easily reinstall a physical game, but obviously not a digital one.

                    • On console I believe the only benefit digital has is not having to stand up to change games. You can sell physical games, friends can borrow them, they're the same price and sometimes even cheaper than digital if you have a local game store. Plus, in the distant future 20 years from now, you may not be able to redownload the games you purchased digitally. They may just disappear. This is especially true for Sony fans, I know the playstation 4 is killing it this generation, but every other branch of Sony operates at a loss. If corporations ever pass their savings from not having to purchase bluerays, packaging, and shipping onto the consumers like Valve does than maybe digital would be worth it.
