Recently every few matches I or someone on my team get messaged that we suck. Or that we are trash or things I can not say here. I don't play much pvp in d2. In d1 I was very pvp focused though.
So what I want to know from bungie : do you find this behavior acceptable? New players such as my wife and kids get this crap and it makes them not want to play. And since my kids are being cussed out by some random persons message I do not find that appropriate.
Let me know what you all think? Should harassment through private message be grounds for temporary bans?

7 RepliesEdited by Spawn: 8/4/2018 5:56:34 PMThere already is one in place as Onyx Spartan has mentioned. Use the report tools through Destiny and through the platform that you’re playing on. Additionally, you can also use the platform settings to friends only or no one for messages. If you see harassment on Bungie.net, you can report it and us Ninjas will deal with it as necessary.

2 RepliesYou see pre Internet cowards were all hidding away from others that could hurt them but through the wonders of the Internet cowards have a place to go and be cowards. I'm 40 years old and i come from a generation where you talked smack and you got a punch in the face unfortunately we live in a time where cowards are allowed to say what they want consequence free we live in sad times.
Let me know what you all think? Should harassment through private message be grounds for temporary bans?
No. You don't understand harassment if you think a private message qualifies. Read it, block the PSN, and move on. This is how adults handle common keyboard warriors. And if your kids are on then you should know to change privacy settings.

Solution: Take hatemail as a sense of pride, you obliterated them to the point they had to spew the salt built up within them. They try to talk you down to bring their ego's up when truthfully, it is THEY who need to know their place. Under your heel.

i got hate mail for using tractor cannon in mayhem. Change your settings so only friends can message you. people are jerks

1 ReplyThere is a system however Bungie does nothing. First for it to be effective they have to inforce it

1 ReplyEdited by Fishyb: 8/7/2018 10:33:51 AMReport all this to the console maker, bungie does nothing to the point of actively encouraging cheating and bad behaviour in pvp. Also set up your accounts so they can only interact with people on your friends list, set them to block messages and anything else from non friends. Remember, report all cheating to the platform holders, and report bungie for encouraging the behaviour as well.

Lots of Rude, childish people out there... but still More of us who are cool & Definitely want U & your family to play! I've had to block messages myself. Take care

If you are on psn go on to the persons account and report them for griefing some times it ends up being a permanent ban.

PVP has always been a toxic place in this game. It won't ever go away. Sadly these are the same people making nerf and buff complaints that Bungie listens too. They will never make them go away. These are their guinea pigs. PVE is what it is because of them. Also you don't know them personally so you could just ignore it.

28 RepliesIt's disgraceful people feel so inclined to message someone they suck just because they or others dont perform the way they want them to. I think anyone who does such a thing because they are salty deserve the biggest whoopin from daddy's leather belt that can be dealt.

1 ReplyIf you have proof, you can get them banned on Psn, got 4 banned for harassment after calling them out on paid carries and network manipulation.

Edited by LionO: 8/5/2018 8:52:02 PMOn PS4 Disable receiving messages from people you do not know. Yes there is a feature. Meaning nobody can send you any kind of message at all EVER, and they will know it because it will say that you have blocked communications do to your privacy settings pissing them off even more. Seems like you need to use that feature. Just set it up in privacy settings and set it to only have friends send you messages. Harassment is in every game. I had some idiot tell me to kill myself because I killed him in Fortnite. He really told me to because he died in Fortnite. I was like really? I reported him but yes harassment is everywhere on any game that has multiplayer.

Report to xbox/sony. Im on xbox and xbox has taken several actions over the years against players who send those kinds of mesages. Some people are so ignorant man. Its a formnof cyber bully.
-
First never ever open a post game message Second see the 1st rule !
-
1 ReplyThat's not Bungie. That's Xbox or Playstation and needs to be reported there. There is no in-game messaging system in Destiny and no default opt-in game chat exactly because of the lowest common denominators you've been running into.
-
1 ReplyI don’t know if it will help or make your wife and kids feel any better but if someone sends you an angry message it means YOU beat THEM. You may not have won the match or even killed them more than they killed you but if they send an angry message it definitely means they suck at life and have lost.
-
Lol I was probably one of those people....y'all probably sucked. I been quitting games all day because people sucked.
I too am a player that sucks
-
Its just little kids being kids, dont let it wind you up lol

4 RepliesPlease don't block msg's from anyone who isn't a friend. It makes it incredibly infuriating to for people who are actually trying to msg you. I've ran into this while trying to set up EP lobbies. There are a lot of randoms in the areas taking up fireteam slots that have msg's blocked. Makes me think they deserve hatemail if they get it so much that they have to block msg's.
-
Report them via psn/xbox thingy. If you are on PC, I don't know how they'd contact you?
