Less than 2.5% of crucible Players have the Claymore

Bungie recently stated in the TWAB that less than 9,000 players have the Claymore, which is less than 2.5% of the crucible population (400k daily). It is also less than 1% of the entire Destiny 2 player base. What happened to 40% getting it? What a failed system Edit: It is interesting to note that the few defending the current competitive system are mostly elitists &/or people who get paid to do recoveries/carries ($150-$1000 per customer). They cheat the system & prey on players’ desire to obtain the weapon, especially in the limited time-frame it is available. Edit 2: the user SebastienC did the numbers and it is actually 0.86% of players active in competitive that have the Claymore. What’s the point of producing a unique gun that 99% of the player base will never get? Why not make something for half the players at least?

    •
Gigz here. I want to clear up confusion about ranked and Redrix's Claymore Glory Fabled is supposed to contain the top ~40% of PvP players. I see a lot of people thinking you will need Glory Legend (top ~1%) for some reason.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/8eq5os/gigz_here_i_want_to_clear_up_confusion_about/ Turns out we do need to be top 1% for some reason...

It's even worse than that, according to the Glory leaderboard shown by DTR (linky link). I tallied how many players there are in each rank and here are the results (as of last friday): I Guardian: 870,420; 85,59 % II Brave: 127,459; 12,53 % III Heroic: 10,379; 1,02 % IV Fabled: 8,028; 0,79 % V Mythic: 447; 0,04 % VI Legend: 251; 0,02 % DTR tracks 1,016,984 players on that particular leaderboard. A quick sampling shows that these are players who have a certain, unknown, minimum of activity in the competitive playlist. Adding up the last 3 ranks, we find that: 8,726 players (0.86 %) are at least of Fabled rank, as of last Friday. (note that it's not exactly the same thing as saying "8726 players have the Claymore", as some players might have dropped under Fabled since getting the weapon.) That's close enough to Bungie's number of players who have acquired the Claymore (8,750) that I can say I trust the source of these numbers. tl;dr: 0.86% of the players active on the competitive list have Redrix's Claymore. It's truly a gun for the onepercenters.

          • Bungies entire MO has been good idea, horrible implementation. The Glory/Valor system were just an ego stroke for streamers. Something to fans "watch". I haven't touched competitive since season 1.. never once did I feel like I was missing out on something fun. Still don't.

          • I play 'crucible' but do not play competitive. I've never even once thought about grinding for the Claymore. I have a handful of friends who play destiny as well, same story for each of them. Just saying those stats of yours are incredibly misleading. You're assuming every person who plays PvP is even trying. It would be the same for PvE. I have not attempted a raid. That's not the same thing as 'failing' at the raid. You can not use my lack of participation in raid content to illustrate how other people are failing at said content.

I’m ok with the number of people who have it. Besides, it’s not the only effective weapon in PvP. I can do just fine without it.

              • The reason few people have it, is few people tried. I bet an extremely low percentage of people gave it a real shot. I have a friend who's almost there and he started Friday. He doesn't do much crucible but he finally went all out. It's fine to make a gun that few are gonna get, because they put in the effort.

              • I gave up on getting that gun weeks ago. Not worth the frustration. I haven't stepped foot in competitive since. I guess that is what bungie wanted, less people playing competitive.

                • That means the gun is a rare, exclusive thing people have to strive for. Isnt that what people wanted in the game? I mean, werent people complaining about things being handed to us too easily in d2? But now that something is hard to get, it's 'not worth it' and the system failed. Lol gotta love it. And before people say anything: no, i dont have the gun. Havent gone after it yet. When i do, i might not get it, which is cool. But that doesnt mean the system failed nor it's not worth it.

                    • Bungie has NEVER said 40% of people would get this gun. The community likes to cite this number, but the only news outlets who reported this came from 4th party sources quoting 3rd parties. I've never seen a single link from anyone even quoting Bungie directly.

                      • I am by no means a crucible God, I'd say a bit better, than above average...this is mostly because pre ranked comp my buddy and pretty much only played comp because we like no radar. Pre comp ranked I had quite good comp states, since ranked, a little lower, a little more when match making switched to basing on rank alone. I did however manage to grind out and get redricks. It was definitely worth it, to have a gun not many ppl will have, and because it is a sleeping giant, and soon, come August 28, will be a monster! It should be this hard to get, you want it, grind every day, winning and losing, getting sick plays and losing your mind with frustration. Keep redricks exclusive bros

I'm close to give up trying. If I still get matched sometimes against people which don't even take full damage, I will give a shit about redrix.

                                  • I made a post about this exact topic abroubd the 2 month mark of warmind. People claimed bungie never said 40% would get it, also there is 400k people playing crucible, but not all of them are playing comp. to get better numbers, you should go to destiny tracker, and see the numbers for people strictly playing comp, for the most accurate answer. Back when I made the post, less than 1% of comp players had the gun. Glad to see the number barely move, as there were also a lot of people telling me that as time goes on, more people would get it, and we would reach that 40%.

                                    • This is the problem with Destiny. It's a game, but Bungie is treating it like its a career. I can assure you IT IS NOT. I hate the whole casual vs elite conversations. Why can't we all enjoy the game. I spent my money on it just like everyone else. I'd like to enjoy ALL the game has to offer, but unfortunately, I cannot. I've heard the arguments against OPTIONAL matchmaking for ALL game modes, and frankly, I'm sick of it. I realize Bungie has a long-term plan and unfortunately it doesn't involve the solo player. I'll have to live with this. I know some of you will say "...you just need to work harder for it, use LFG, quit ur bitching...". Well, you know what, I had a job for 35 years and now I'm all about enjoying myself without WORKING. You shouldn't have to consume yourself in a game in order to enjoy the contents of said game. And by consume I mean play it above all others or force yourself to find 2-5 others in order to enjoy the gear I'm missing out on. So yes, there will always be a very small percentage of the player base that completes the raids, that completes an EP, that has a flawless Trials run, or get's the very best weapons. To me that's pretty sad. Remember, its a game.

                                      • The thing that needs to be changed is not how much comp you need to win to get redricks, how long it takes or how hard of a grind it is...the issue is the match making along the way. It hot much worse in comp once they switched to matching solely on rank. This opens the system up so much to account recovs....I solo queued and matched with a team of three, I was like dope!! Until I saw they had 100, 200, and 600 glory....me sitting at 1700 at the time. So it hink to myself, well most of the other team will have low glory as well so, at least I will stomp lol....that was a big nope!!. Team of 4, one guy with 1900 glory, three account recovs with 0, 100 and 150 glory. We got stomped. The guy with 0 glory 50% win ratio, the games he lost 0 kills 0 kda, games he won typically 3.0 kda. Meaning he is purposefully losing to keep his glory at ,0 to account recov. This is where the issue lies....the match making needs to be fixed. It needs to match based on rank, win %, kd, kda and take into consideration teams of 4. This would allow lower skilled players to also slwly climb the glory ranks, as they would get better and higher rank, their combatants would always been evenly match, that is what comp ranked should be, even matches, every match, an ultimate fight between evenly statcked teams. Matchmaking would take longer, but it would be worth it.

                                      • There are a few reasons why (this is coming from someone that got the claymore on PC and PS4) 1) Takes too long to get to fabled. Seriously, it can take the average player about 100 matches or more to get any headway towards the claymore depending on their win ratio. The amount of points you get for winning is too low. 2) No solo matchmaking only. Limiting ranked to solo only or up to duo would have been the right call. Ranked in most games restrict players from going in stacked. We already have trials, we don't need it to bleed into competitive. 3) No radar. This adds to the disadvantage solo players have to deal with, lack of information while the enemy team on comms can share information. 4) Stagnation of the meta. The meta should be changing up slightly every few weeks, playing the same meta for months is tiring. 5) The losing penalty in itself is just bad.
