Known Issue: Quickplay Matchmaking

Hey all, Today we’ve discovered an issue with Quickplay Matchmaking. We are actively investigating the depth of the issue, and currently believe that neither connection nor skill are being factored correctly when forming matches. [b]PvP Design Lead Derek Carroll[/b] has more information on our next steps: [quote]With the release of Update 1.2.3, we introduced 6v6 Quickplay with a bug that causes skill-matching and potentially connection-matching to fail in that playlist. This results in much faster – but lower-quality – matches than normal. Our plan for the immediate future is to take no immediate action, monitor the health of the playlist, take notes, and ready a potential fix. We will inform the community with our findings and if we make a change, you will be the first to know (just like this time).[/quote]

  • Interesting information dmg04. I just started playing playing PVP for the first time yesterday in Destiny. Played PvP in a lot games in my lifetime and finally stopped playing PVP with Battlefield 4 because none of PVP was ever decently matched. Most matches were blow out matches with them losing side losing greatly. I'm working on Call of Arms so played both Quickplay and Competitive. Competitive was complete blow out. Lost 0-4 with 1 teammate leaving after first round so played 3 against 4 for remaining 3 rounds. 2nd was the exact opposite of the first match where I was on the winning team. Bottom line neither fun, learned nothing and won't bother with competitive going forward. Quickplay, on the other hand, some of matches were evenly matched. Still, players were getting 40-50 kills over the next highest scoring player. I had more fun in the matches that were going back and forth the whole match. But bottom line is if you don't fix your match making, I do just what is needed for the milestone. Blow out matches and matches with one or two players dominating matches are quite boring and little fun.
