Should have that voice work replaced IMO. I saw on the interview that they see it as "a moment in time".. but it will soon be a moment in time after September 4th and strikes are a big part of the thing that you do repeatedly. It will be pretty hard to feel like Cayde's dead when he chats me through my strike grinding.
Idk. seems like a small thing, but I think it will bug me a bit. Of course his voice should stay in the campaign because that content is linear and you have to "meditate" to see it again. But I've always thought strikes did a good job at representing the current state of the universe.

I hope he’s still their because I can imagine Bungie embracing the dark story of it with Failsafe saying something or Ikora and suddenly the Ghost says “Cayde would’ve said this or that” and everyone is now in their feels
-
4 RepliesI’m sure he will be replaced by a strong independent gender fluid person who don’t need no man and who cracks terrible jokes. Can’t wait for that.
-
2 RepliesI highly doubt they'd replace Cayde's voicelines in strikes since they're all implied to be before his death (logically and realistically, it'd make sense if the DLC strikes happen after the vanilla ones). Patrols will make sense though as those are always in present time.
-
I would be surprised if bungie can work that cohesively as a unit... besides, it's hard and stuff.
-
14 RepliesWell stuff like the arms dealer took place before Cayde death while patrols are current which is why they are changing those voice lines.
-
6 RepliesThe strikes happened before he died so it makes no sense to change the voices in them. The patrols I understand.
-
1 ReplyI guess you’ll have to “meditate” on the strikes now as well, I mean what’s the difference, vex simulations can kill, right? I can understand your point to a degree, but honestly repeating content, (especially very linear play throughs like strikes), is mind numbing no matter who does the commentary. At least they mentioned some strike specific loot to keep things going for a bit. Hopefully the dreaming city stuff will also be entertaining for some time.
-
8 RepliesNot if it ends up like when they retrospectively replaced every single dinklebot line with shit boring flat voice acting.
-
3 RepliesAfter Taniks and Omnigul, at this point I'm not even sure he won't be resurrected some how. And just saying? I dunno what kind of writer reveals to the public that one of the top characters (well, the best we got) is going to be killed in the story. That's like a massive story point that could have been one helluva shock to the players. I understand it's supposed to set the stage. But that coulda been a huge moment in the story. Makes me think 1). He's... "undone his death?" or 2). The writing just keeps spiraling on down that brown lava hole.

7 RepliesOh and let me guess, if you start a new character you want Uldren to time travel and kill Cayde back then too. I want to be able to remember Cayde and still get a little sad hearing his light hearted humor after he’s gone. And don’t pull the Dinklage/North switcheroo shit on us either.
-
1 ReplyStrikes don’t seem to have a chronological order. Story missions do. I believe the new hunter vanguard should replace Cayde’s lines in strikes but not in story missions.
-
Don't listen to haters, I agree with you. I grind strikes for fun and loot and I agree with everything you said.
-
He is my fav in the game, I'll miss the smartass. That said, not sure, like all of us what the hell Bungie is going to do next, better or worse. I did see on a Youtube video, nothing after the is said to be killed that somehow he may have lived. Leaving it open ended, Bungie is famous for doing things like this and having them just show back up down the road. What do you see ?
-
2 RepliesUh no. The strikes are recycles story missions, so the voice lines need to stay. And they better. I want to feel my heart ache when I hear Cayde in the strikes..
-
6 RepliesIt will be an inconsistenty thing. I had a conversation with a friend on this fact. If bungie is going to kill one of the most beloved characters of the game than new dialogue needs to play as a remberance of cayde being dead. But also think back to the story missions as well especially the cutscene where cayde played many of the rolls in the clips. Granted they can't just cut him out of the cutscenes but still. I would be willing to say if there not going to completely remove all traces of him for those who buy forsaken than I speculate that cayde will make a return he just won't have his light. Because really he's an exo his memories can be placed in another robot body and he could live on just without the light. Inmean seriously banshie has been rebooted 44 times basically meaning he has had 43 bodies in total. And cayde has been rebooted 6 times meaning he has had 5 other bodies since his memories and everything were placed into his current exo body.

That'd be nice, but seeing how certain strike dialogue like the Pyramidion didn't change after CoO; I kinda doubt that will be the case. I mean we not only found Osiris, but Ikora reunited with him, IN PERSON! Yet in that strike she still speaks as if it's impossible to hear him within the vex network. Likewise with all the adventures that reference him. The dialogue was not altered in the slightest. Then again... In the story of our Gaurdian, the role of Osiris is not as great as Cayde's. So they may change it up for the sake of immersion

1 ReplyI get it but I also don’t. Makes sense, but a voiceover without Nathan Fillion? Might big boots to fill.

I bet they will remaster stikes for forsaken, remember when they takenified winter’s run and gave us 1 new strike in rise of iron cause they just sivafied like 6 others. Pretty sure they will change the dialogue for the new version of the strikes. If they don’t, that’s not new content, and people will be pissed about making them pay for stuff they already paid for. I think they are talking about the original version of the strikes.
