Hey all,
Today we’ve discovered an issue with Quickplay Matchmaking. We are actively investigating the depth of the issue, and currently believe that neither connection nor skill are being factored correctly when forming matches. PvP Design Lead Derek Carroll has more information on our next steps:
With the release of Update 1.2.3, we introduced 6v6 Quickplay with a bug that causes skill-matching and potentially connection-matching to fail in that playlist. This results in much faster – but lower-quality – matches than normal. Our plan for the immediate future is to take no immediate action, monitor the health of the playlist, take notes, and ready a potential fix. We will inform the community with our findings and if we make a change, you will be the first to know (just like this time).
That's cool. Don't fix your broken game. If the team I'm on doesn't get a 25 point spread within the first minute or so, I just leave and join another one ad infinitum until I'm finally on a winning team.

8 RepliesSo, several days ago, I shat all over this "bug." Having played some more, I now think it's ultimately for the best to leave SBMM out of quickplay, but with caveats. The prioritization in matchmaking should be as follows: 1. Connection 2. Solos need to match solos. No more dumping me into a losing game with 5 randoms against a super-sweaty 5-stack. 3. New player protection (fewer than 100 matches) 4. Very low K/D protection (around, say, sub-0.5 K/D); these players would be kept with the "new player protection" group." Finally, Quickplay becoming ultra-sweaty has not happened in a vacuum; it has a lot to do with many players not liking Trials/Comp as they are now. I believe that if Trials/Comp get "fixed" — i.e., if they get radar back and get more engaging gametypes, like the new Lockdown — the sweaties will stop piling into quickplay, which is what's happening now. We all need to remember that no configuration will please all players. Thus, to some or another degree, all of us will have to compromise. Just my thoughts.

5 RepliesI'm indifferent to how it currently works if I'm honest. I can choose to not play much crucible atm but the fact that you know and have stated that it will lead to "low quality" matches while actively choosing not to address it is pretty bad imo. It's kinda like saying "we know our product is broken but we'll monitor the amount of complaints we get before deciding if we will fix it or not" I get Forsaken is just around the corner and things will probably change then but it really doesn't instil much confidence from the player base going forward. For me personally it's just cemented my decision not to pick up Forsaken on release. I'll monitor TWAB, the forums and player reviews while I play other games. This is from someone that has D2 on ps4 and pc with a shed ton of hours logged.

My last matches are laggy, hits not registering, sweaty and full holding hands team shooting. Did Bungie "fix" the matchmaking?
-
I’m an average player and all I can say is maybe fix the CBMM. Feels great to be able to use a non meta load out. I haven’t used GL, VW(never really used this), or colony in weeks.
-
All I could add is PvP hasn't felt so smooth as it does right now. I don't care if I lose to sweats as long as the game play stays smooth as it seems to be right now.
-
Too laggy. Cmon Bungie. Introduce new Crucible playlists to deal with this. What the hell is going on over there?.... too busy with your new market huh. Selling good will can’t ever be bought back
-
I don't know what's happening but all I can say is I'm really enjoying crucible atm. I don't think I can recall any connection issues as all my games have ran smoothly
-
Keep it for Quickplay. And change Matchmaking for Trials to sbmm. And add a solo queue for Quickplay and Competitive. 👍
-
Thx for acknowledging the issue and keeping us up to date with investigation results and fix. ❤️👍

1 ReplyYour current decision to “do nothing” is ridiculously stupid. Switch it back. Sbmm allowed for good, fair, even matches. If you’re so elite that you hate sbmm because you have to face other great players, too bad. Suck more, or stop being a coward who just wants to stomp teams of people who have jobs.
-
3 RepliesThanks for making me have to do PvP for this stupid solstice crap and then killing the matchmaking. Nothing I like better then shooting some mother-blam!-er 4 times and watching him shoot me twice and I'm the one who dies...over and over and over and over, for this -blam!-ing armor. You no good prick mother-blam!-ers.

7 RepliesI'm usually a pretty rational guy. I accept this game the way it is, and accept that I chose to play. I don't call for people's heads for bad decisions or bugs. I've never rage quit a match before. This time, however, Bungie - someone should get fired for this decision. Crucible is the worst I've ever seen in the 4 years I've been playing. The lag is as bad as it ever was, and now I'm getting put in with Gods on the other team and noobs on mine. Then you make us have to get 5 wins based on nothing but luck? Someone needs to be publicly fired for this one.

I don't know why we can't have dedicated severs for pvp... Would fix alot
-
*Insert obligatory dedicated servers comment* I don't really know too much about it besides it reducing lag. Others seem to want it though so I'm open to it.
-
Crucible is so fvcking stupid!! It is ridiculous how screwed up the matches are. It's absolutely dumb.

14 RepliesJust chiming in to voice my own frustration with being forced into PvP to earn the solstice rewards. As a rule I hate PvP. I have always hated PvP. I will always hate PvP. The only time I ever PvP is when the game forces me to. As for this event, to progress with it at all, there are two objectives where we are required to participate in PvP. In particular the whole "super kills" objective is exceedingly annoying. On average, I'm managing a little less than 1 super kill per 3 matches. To meet the objective looks like it will require a total of 30 super kills. I can anticipate 100 matches that I don't want to play before I meet this objective. Why couldn't you have programed the event so that it was a EITHER <complete PvP objective> OR <complete PvE objective> ... that way those players who enjoy PvP could do something to progress the seasonal rewards, while those of us who hate PvP would not be forced to participate in activities we detest in order to progress the seasonal rewards? As it is, this seasonal reward is only punishing those of your players who enjoy PvE and do not enjoy PvP.

1 ReplyEdited by MindfulPizza: 8/5/2018 1:22:32 PMcomcast star trek modem got them finally , there outdated tech like wtf , happened. so when can we get dedidicated servers and not need to deal with new techno, modems and isp's updates. it not the 00's anymore . please just because comcast now can push data to any console on the network with one click with there modem and increase 1g and 2g should not matter . right thought bungie guys had it in the bag online in the bag ? . bungie grow up .

4 RepliesNo. This is the most fun I've had..

3 RepliesNew update has suddenly increased your winning in destiny PVP. 1. You are getting matched against an influx of reluctant PVE players who should not be playing you... but are because they want the gear. 2. Your signal is garbage and in the past you only got matched with other garbage signals 3. You invested in tools that augment your signal to your advantage .... none of these make you good. I can not enjoy winning a match anymore as I have been on the other side of the garbage connection and can not have any confidence it was teamwork that won or unfair matching... In the off chance this post actually matters or gets read by anyone that should/can do something about this please fix it. I believe in a fair fight, I did not grow up where everyone got a trophy. Sportsmanship is as important to winning as losing and your system ignores that basic rule of mature competition. If it takes 5 more min to match properly, it's better than playing an hour matched unfairly. Cheers If you enjoy the game and want to see this fixed you can do more that complain on this forum ..... Currently working other channels to address 1. Contacting BBB, for misrepresentation of product, and manipulated access to purchased goods 2. Connecting Xbox and Sony to question partnership with poorly managed AAA game 3. Starting social media post uploading all captured lag now in game...(no one wants to buy a buggy game) If your local area has other methods please respond

LOL! Yesterday I was in a series of horribly unbalanced matches. Teams were getting badly steam rolled. I mean massacred. A fix would be nice. Still, I’m in there gittin’ ‘er dun as best I can.
-
1 ReplyLike the issue of being 4 out of 5 wins in a row and join a clash game already 41 points to 3 down. Ye thanks bungie.
-
1 ReplyI think over all not having SBMM is healthy for the game. I love playing crucible but I quit a few months ago because no matter how much I improved, I always got matched against better and better players so it felt like there was no return on my time invested. Basically, no matter how much you play and get better with SBMM you will never feel like you are getting any better. Over time, this leads to frustration and eventually giving up. Yes SBMM helps noobs not get crushed in the short term, but it makes the majority of people quit long term (even the noobs). TL;DR SBMM will kill pvp long term. It should stay in competitive playlists.
-
35 RepliesFrom the other perspective. I enjoy not having to sweat my face off every time I just want to play with quick play with my friends. I can just play fun matches. I shouldn’t be punished for being an above average player.
-
2 RepliesLag is absolutely terrible. Please fix the bug. Matches are way too lopsided too.

Edited by MindfulPizza: 8/5/2018 9:54:54 AMso lame man terms , if isp to fast , in weak isp faster isp dies ever time , since faster isp do not registor the hits on the body shots, or other team blink shot or blink run kill. or we host the entire teams that causes the other team be a god mode . since are isp like wtf , we doing ? it to fast . for 1mb and 2mb halo speeds . O wait comcast giving out there 1g and 2g modems now . that can simple just 2 click to modem all data to the modem . on the ps4 and xboxlive . and steam . wow. there behind the times, sony just as bad on the old ps4 eithernet port over heats , to point we got to use wifi unless it is a pro ps4.
