D2 Raids aren't fun anymore

I've been playing Destiny since D1 came out. First time ever played that tipe of game and after I figured how it works I liked it so much that I stopped playing any other games. But now... Man, I remember when I found a first Destiny friend in the open world and he got us into first VOG. We didn't know the hell is going on there. Dying all the time but no one got mad at us and kicked us out. Slowly we learned them all at that was my best gaming experience in my life. So much friends and so much fun. Now I don't feel like doing raids any more. The way the revive system works you're not allowed to die pretty much. There's no completion of that encounter if everyone aren't on their spot. People get frustrated and it's hard to learn that way. At least normal mode should be like that. A bit forgiving for new players That is just how I feel even tho I'm still playing everything else in the game. I work long hours and have no "every day" group to play with. If I go to LFG I need emblem, certain weapons, so many clears... How the hell I'm gonna get those unless playing like some all day every day. Hopefully Forsaken will bring new things to do even tho I can't wait for the new raid. ________________ I'm not saying that raid sucks or there's no good people to play with on LFG. I'm saying that because of "revive" mechanics you are not allowed to die more than once in normal raid while learning. It's ok for prestige. I like the fact that everyone have to do their role in the raid but if one person dies and no one has a revive that encounter fails. And how many times someone falls in gauntlet run at the start and you fail cause you didn't make it in time to revive that guy. They should only change that revive thing in normal raids so people can learn with less stress.

  • I enjoy them, but I do think the revive token needs to go away for normal only. They are a giant pain when teaching someone.

  • Raids would be great if you didn't have to play them with other people...

    • Were they ever fun? I've never ever raided before in Destiny or Destiny 2, but with most of Destiny's (1's) Raids I used to look on with envy wishing they were something I had access to. There hasn't been a single instance in Destiny 2 where I've seen footage of a Destiny 2 Raid ( or Raid lair ) and thought to myself "that looks like fun".

      • I think this is a clear case of The Road To Hell Being Paved With Good Intentions. I think Bungie wanted to create a "participation trophy" environment in the raid where "no one got left behind". By creating a mechanic where you were forced to revive people in order to continue...plus they made the mechanics such that the are almost undoable without 6 people. (In fact you can't even do the first JUMPING puzzle for EoWs without 6 people....found that out the hard way.) Unfortunately it had the exact opposite effect. It turned the raid experience were you could carry or "hide" a weaker player...and therefore made raid teams more willing to teach new players or gamble on an inexperienced one.... ..and blew it up. Because now you have a raid where you literally cannot complete the content unless all 6 people are alive....you have limited numbers of revives...and your whole TEAM wipes if you cant revive that person. So now a new or weak player becomes a MASSIVE liability to the team..and someone who can't manage to stay alive..or keeps blowing an assignment becomes a threat to the success of the entire raid. IOW, it is now impossible to carry or hide a weak player. As a result they've taken something that already had a high barrier to entry....and topped it with razor wire and GUN turrets..... ...and NOBODY is willing to gamble on a new or inexperienced player unless they KNOW that person. The token system has been a disaster, that had the exact OPPOSITE of its intended effect...and simply needs to be scrapped for the bad (but well-intentioned) idea that it was.

            • Raids were never fun. Bungie should scrap them or completely revamp them to be more like the activities people do play.

              • I also havent done raids since D1. Im always that token quiet player who never says more than a word in the entire raid "sometimes". When i do speak, its only when someone messes up or we are really having a good time. But most of the time, its wasnt needed because everyone knew what to do already. I took a vacation from gaming for a year away from destiny 2. I come back and 2 new expansions came out. But all the hypes gone. No one wants to do anything ither than nightfall, strikes and crucible. Then you got tight groups who solely do raids, trials, and prestige(no idea whats the difference) kinda hard to try and get back together with my old fireteam. Looking for new ones dont last too long. Im just ranting by now. Bored, yet still dont wanna give up on it.

                • Not a huge fan of the revive system either. Takes away those potential clutch moments. Example: my favorite clutch moment came on Golgaroth in Kings Fall. My friend was the only one alive and he managed to finish off Golgaroth by himself. Fast forward to D2 and a similar moment would be impossible.

                    • Damn some of you must be real fun at parties. It seems that most of you dont like the raids cant find fireteams, have never even done them, or are just being elitist tool bags. If you have never done one then just shut up. If you aren't interested then cool dont play it. You dont get to trash it. Elitist tools you will never be happy so just go sit in your d1 tower and keep it there.

                    • I honestly had no idea people still raid. I only have 5 friends who still play and none of them are ever in a raid. I did the raid a few times when it first came out and then never again. Never did prestige or any of the lairs

duh , destiny 1 we got gear that look cool as hell and work in the raid and even work in pvp . now we got some cookie cutter wtf , and still got use lfg site account hacks. 3rd party sites . we do not even on the consoles got cookie cutter in game invite shout system. they wasted bungie 5 years of content to the toliet. to balance pvp and forgot the fun of destiny and teamwork . and we lost 3k ways of building are guardians .

there raids in d2 75% use never even new there raids from destiny 1 , how were we all them understand there raids in destiny 2 ? there was no 90 day matchmaking allow new players experience the content, bungie still do not understand what a raid even is, it for gear and weapon , but it repeatable till get it like strike , hard ones is once 80% get around 30% of the op weapons for fun , then add the next part as a ladder for fun to grow up , but keep some at lower level that higher lever piece need to grow up . and OP players and bosses and friends . then after 80% using nerf it or creat new gear or weapon over ride it or content,

                          • D2 raids have never been fun. Haven't bothered playing them. I've finished eow, played but never finished the first one a million times, but something always came up. SoS, won't bother. I just don't care. I used to do all the raids weekly in d1. The magic is just gone. They're just not fun at all.

I think Raids are the best content in Destiny. If any of you haven't checked them out yet, be sure to. Of course, I think Destiny 1 had better raids, but I do appreciate that Bungie are being more experimental with the raids and trying new things, like the underbelly or the raid lair system. Personally though, I just want a linear raid with hidden secrets like VoG and Wrath. I also think the D2 raids suffer from a lack of bosses, but Forsaken seems to be trying to fix that, just hoping they dont go overboard.

                              • My problem with the raid is it feels like I'm on a game show, a really lame boring one. D1 the raids were fun, this one seems like it's a job...one that doesn't pay. The weapons are trash.

                              • I also don't have much fun with them. Correction - I have no fun with Leviathan. I did Eater of Worlds for the first time last night (my clan is experienced, and they drafted me to fill the team, but were prepared to shoulder a newcomer) and that was okay. I like that it was short and simple and relatively freewheeling, and felt somehow...connected? Because Leviathan is neither freewheeling nor does it have any logical flow -- it's 4 unrelated games you play, separated by lollipop tag (which is actually the best part of the raid). I understand that's sort of the lore point--dance for the Emperor's entertainment--but that just makes it bad lore. I think the best way I can put it is that unlike the Destiny 1 raids, Leviathan is very much less than the sum of its parts.

                                • I like the revive token system. It forces people to keep up and not die but it's not an insta wipe, no room for error system. Not trying to sound elitist, but I don't want to play Raids with people who can't handle adds. I intend to sit down and complete the Raid in 45 to an hour, not 4 hours of pointing fingers and playing the blame game. Which is usually what the weaker players resort to. In my experience.

                                  • You need a good group of friends, either that or you’re just raiding with random people you don’t even like and probably don’t even like you. I completed the Leviathan because I wanted the shotgun with a group I met on the lfg. Some of them were real cool but a few of them you felt like they were disgusted by my presence.
