Crucible Labs Feedback

If you have feedback on our latest experiment mode in Crucible Labs, please leave it here. The mode we are testing is Lockdown, and it will be available until the next weekly reset. Senior Designer Andrew Welden explained how it works in this weeks TWAB.
Lockdown is a new 4v4 round-based Competitive mode that, like Control, is about capturing and holding zones. Unlike Control, your only score comes from playing the objective. Those of you from the Taken King/Rise of Iron era know this mode’s predecessor, the Control variant “Zone Control.” Here’s how it plays out: Both teams start Lockdown with a “Progress” percentage of 0% displayed under the scoreboard. Once a team holds two zones, progress will begin ticking up for that team at a rate of 1% per second. There is no round timer—the first team to reach 100% will win the round, and the first to win three rounds will win the match. That’s not all, though—if a team can successfully capture all three zones, they will instantly win the round, regardless of each team’s progress state. A well-coordinated push from your opponents will always be dangerous, which means you need to stay focused on your objective. However, winning a round that way is not necessarily as simple as it might seem. To earn capture progress or win on the triple cap, you must hold uncontested zones. If a team holds two zones, you can fully halt their progress by contesting one or more zones (you’ll see “PROGRESS HALTED” display under the scoreboard to let you know this is happening). They won’t start earning score again until they clear you and your progress off the point(s). The same applies when going for the triple cap lockdown—the instant win only applies if all three zones are completely clear. We’ve seen some really exciting matches play out from this ruleset internally, and we hope you have similar experiences out in the wild!

• What did you think about this mode? • Was anything confusing? • Did anything seem missing? • Was there a map it played better/worse on? • Were there spawning issues? • Were the rounds too short/too long? • Was there a weapon or other sandbox combination that affected the game in a negative way?
• Scorched was pretty much only fun on a titan. You literally tested a game mode where kills come from shooting the ground next to/under someone and completely forgot about hunter jumps and the warlock float down instead of up deal.

    • Fix matchmaking. It’s terrible. UNfun. Take it to the lab and put it under a microscope, because it’s apparently very hard for you guys to see that solo players getting rolled by 4-6 stacks every game isn’t fun.

      • I loved scorch cannons. Rounds were too short, but other than that, it was an extremely fun time.

      • Soooo, when is team going to decrease shotgun range? You all knew this was coming. Especially when my fusion rifle completely body shots another player from outside of close range and 2 shots from any shotgun trump my gun! Oh, and if titans get 1 hit melee kill... shouldn't hunter precision throwing knife??????????

      • BEST. UPDATE. YET. This brought me back to D2. I mained D1 for the better part of 3 years, but stopped playing D2 after 2 months. This is bringing me back, and if the Forsaken DLC brings it back, I'll be maining D2 (and I'm sure I'm not the only one saying this).

      • Will we ever get the option to use the Year 1 loadout system again? I really loved being able to run an auto, scout, and telesto. I like the changes but I’d hate to see the year 1 way go for good

I liked scorched but stopped playing because I noticed some of the shots not exploding and the enemy not taking damage. Playing on PC.

      • Can you please make crucible catalysts something you can work for. Mindlessly grinding for nothing is killing me. Won a couple crucible match and got zero rewards. What is that? How about you skip the rewards if I lose?

      • Yes! games like scorched are exactly what crucible is missing. This is the most fun I've had in crucible since that week where Prometheus Lens was OP.

        • Put this into Crucible Labs, it is several vehicle game modes. You made Halo, a masterpiece of vehicles, this will be easy for you. Balancing should not be an issue.

        • I enjoyed the scorch game mode.. U could add like a king if the mountain type addition to it hold down a single zone... Kinda like the injection rigs ring or maybe a little large the more teammates in the zone higher the score if any enemy players in the zone it is contested and not counting towards either team.. Just a suggestion

        • I want to begin by saying I quit destiny 2 about 2 months after it launched. I had played D1 more than what would be considered a healthy dosage of time spent, and could not continue with what was presented to me. With the latest patch notes and the rumors surrounding Forsaken on the horizon I was convinced to give D2 a try once more. From playing the solstice event and getting a feel for the updated GL meta I came back to, I can’t begin to thank Bungie for taking these steps in the right direction with this latest update of buffs/nerfs. This will surely bring back more players and I am excited for the future once more. My only negative review of the update 2.0 was that I noticed a sneaky no aftershocks on first Titan slam nerf. I have been playing arc Titan in preparation for forsaken and felt the Super is in no way OP and saw NOBODY yelling for a nerf to the first aftershock of a slam like wtf? This was a helpful part of the slam and I will still do well but when I’m trying to compete with tickle fingers and the new blade dancer I still feel slightly underpowered as a super and this change was just another small tap to my nuts. That is all, thanks for listening and trying to make this game great again.

            • • What did you think about this mode? Interesting. Very interesting. Hard to get into late, though: once other players get to be really good with the scorch cannon, they just annihilate you before you can do anything. Very discouraging. • Was anything confusing? No, it was pretty self-explanatory. • Did anything seem missing? In terms of glitches, I didn't see any. • Was there a map it played better/worse on? Couldn't tell right off. I got creamed everywhere. • Were there spawning issues? None that I could see. • Were the rounds too short/too long? No, the shortened rounds suited the high-intensity, low-variety nature of the combat. • Was there a weapon or other sandbox combination that affected the game in a negative way? As I said, the scorch cannons provided an interesting, if monotonous way to fight. Once a player mastered the weapons, it became difficult for a person newer to the game mode to be competitive. Scorch cannons would be an outstanding addition to existing Crucible modes, maybe have one appear at random in certain Quickplay matches, with far fewer shots in it*. Also, scorch cannons would make a great exotic heavy; will try to put out a topic featuring my idea on an exotic scorch cannon. *You could also throw in a Saladin style axe for added variety. Maybe feature the random arrival of a scorch cannon in regular Quickplay, and the axe in Iron Banner.

            • Nothing about pvp ruining the pve experience is fun, when are you asshats going to figure out that pvp needs to be a completely different game mode from pve? Obviously D2 at launch was neutered into oblivion for pvp.... how did that work out for you? Separate pvp from pve and your community will increase tremendously along with making your customers happy for once.

            • I played quite a few matches to give this new match type a fair chance. It was absolute zero fun. Too crowded with 12 players, and the scorch cannon is a less than ideal weapon. I definitely will not be playing Scorch during the upcoming year.
