There is absolutely no correlation between destiny and racists/sexists. Your post is invalid

OP thats cool and all but just a couple of things I have learned about writing this post. 1. This post is sexist towards men that really wasn’t the intention. After reading some of the comments it is I will admit it. 2. Dam there is a lot of toxicity out here. 3. There is a problem 4. There are some really articulate POV’s here. 5. People read what they want. Some the comments that are on this thread assume that I was referring to the whole of Destiny gamers nope just some of them. Looking at the title I can see understand why. I will probably at more to this as the comments come in. So read the rest of the post check some of the comments it is fascinating how passionate people are. The main intention was to start a conversation which I think it has. Maybe didn’t handle right may be I did. Does it make things better does it change anything who knows? Drop a response keep talking about it figure out a solution or don’t . Totally up to you, I do hope it does make you think. Here is the post: Destiny the game is not racist / sexist but some of players are. I have noticed the influx of basically more ignorance on destiny. Which surprises me because the game is geared towards sci-fi nerds like me. I am not saying that sci-fi nerds can’t be racist / sexist but if your into sci-fi you more inclined to accept the idea of different races and women being empowered etc. Edit: *Great response below about sci-fi being sexist as a genre which I thought was well written. So that is my rant, yes I know this may not be the platform for it but if your reading this, hopefully it makes you think. Things don’t change if we don’t talk about it. Say something when you encounter ignorance. Edit: This is the sexist part and it is. As man I would say we do and say a lot of stupid sh!t. And yes women can be toxic too I haven’t really run into any of them in any online game but that is my experience. So to all men out there regardless of age remember a woman brought you into to this world. Remember your mother's face before you open your mouth and say something negative about another human being. Be better, do better and move forward. Thoughts?

To answer the topic question, I would have to say that Destiny became so sexist/racist when you decided to start looking for all the sexism/racism. Those on a witch hunt will always find their witch... but then, perhaps you're not on a witch hunt and are just now starting to notice all the background noise. If you have started listening for it I'll warn to be cautious. People who live life listening for the background noise tend to get so focused on the noise that they tune out everything else. I suppose I probably shouldn't be using metaphors on here; so few people these days know what a metaphor is anymore and tend to take them literal. I'm not calling racism or sexism background noise, as in "something to be dismissed". I'm saying that they have always existed, as far back as the history of socialization between different tribes/civilizations of humans go, and regardless of how much we try to push it out of our thoughts, it still exists today in the background. However, and this is the most important part of this entire post... Not every man who opens a car door for a woman is a chauvinistic misogynist who thinks women can't open the door for themselves. Sometimes, I'd even wager most times, they do it out of love or appreciation; a gesture of acknowledgement. These days people get so wrapped up in self victimization that they can turn literally any gesture, regardless of intent, into something racist or sexist. Don't let it get to the point with you that everything you see is sexist or racist because the vast majority of the time, it's not.

I play with quite a few women. My characters are women. I have no problem working with them. If a man has a problem working with women is because he's either insecure or a sexist homosexual. I've played with women who are better than men. I have 2 women I'd rather do nf or raids with than most men. It's all about skill to me than whether your a male or female. Women can handle jokes and tolerate male bantering idk where this post spikes from, but I assure not all of us are complete jackarses who play.
