Hey everyone!
So as some of you may know, the "Whispers" mission that unlocks the Whisper of the Worm exotic sniper rifle (AKA Black Spindle) was discovered earlier today. I was lucky to attempt the mission a few times with my fireteam, however we have yet to beat it.
On my last run through of it however, I found a side-path that was a little hidden (not too much, but at first it seemed it was an in-accessible area) that led to something interesting.

This is what seems to be a semi-active Vex Gate. Now, this in and of itself is nothing special; we seem them everywhere on Io and in the Pyramidion. However, standing at certain angles allows us to see a static image of what's on the other side. Recognize it?
That's the jumping puzzle just before/after the labyrinth with the Gorgons (I forget, I only ran VoG once). I remember when I went through the raid thinking "huh that's weird that there is just a random gate here". I heard that there was a story/exotic mission that had us go through that portal, but I can't confirm that.
Ultimately, what does this mean? Well, obviously it means that VoG and the Pyrimidion are connected. I guess it was kinda assumed, what with them both existing in a strange state outside of time and space, however this is concrete and solid evidence.
I apologize for the not so great picture, I don't have any capture software and had to use my Xbox's "screenshot" function. I hope to get a better view of it and upload it to YouTube in the next few days, which I'll make a follow up post about.
So, what does everyone think about this? What could it mean moving forward, or could it make something more clear from back in D1 Y1?

3 RepliesI kind of think that it’s just a throwback to VoG. The entirety of the Whisper mission seems like a love letter to me to the community. Like, “look into the portal, that’s where we came from, look at where we are now”. Though if I had to give some sort of lore implication, if you remember the No Time to Explain questline, we had to enter that portal at one point, and find ourselves in a somewhat similar version of where we were in the Whisper questline. That would mean that VoG and the underside of Io are linked somehow. Also if you notice, there is no traditional Vex-y effect to the portal. Just a picture. Taken are able to travel trans-dimensionally, so perhaps the Taken were able to use that portal to go to the VoG.

Edited by CresterOts: 7/24/2018 7:41:55 AMIt probably is. When we descended into Venus....we stepped through a portal of sorts at a certain point. Like how we entered Crotas Throne World. Mind you the VoG was The Vex's attempt at a Throne World, made by their gathered intel by Quria Blade Transform....before their capture/abduction. There's even scannables on Io that have connections to the VoG. Who knows.....maybe we might enter it again......as Atheon is a constant.....maybe it's a battle ground between Taken and Vex.

I think its a cool little tribute to the vault.. or it may be a sneak peak at a quest, or maybe we are going back to venus.. Who knows. Its a cool thing, and I enjoyed the quest so much. Only thing I think they could have fixed was how it was triggered.. It should not have been tied to a random public event. What they should have done was hid taken artifacts around the lost oasis that you have to interact with to get the boss to summon to open the portal.

2 RepliesSo you may or not know this but there is actually oracles in the "whisper" you can shoot and get a chest from when you shoot the right ones and it gives you well, I wont tell you what but its interesting. To activate the oracles you have to open 5 separate chests. It's really cool and I've done it dont think many people know yet

3 RepliesThis is but convincing me that Io may have always been connected to the Vault of Glass. The planet certainly has similar architecture. But what confuses me is how the vault is still untouched after our intervention. I was sure the Red Legion would’ve done a smash and grab of whatever was left inside.

I got stuck on that island my first run thinking it was the path, and thought the image in the gate definitely meant something- but I totally didn't recognize it until you mentioned the Vault.

Who knows. Maybe they will at some point make a vex raid like vault of glass

4 RepliesI think the D1 mission you're talking about was for No Time to Explain exotic scout rifle.

Wow. I’ve never seen a vex gate like that before. At least not since I can remember.

3 RepliesThe gate in d1 in the vault you talk about is activated by taking the hidden path in the paradox heroic mission collecting 3 ghosts to learn about tolan and ends with a different boss encounter after hes killed the door in the boss room opens and you get a chest with the next part of the quest

That’s an awesome find! I was playing solo and came across the whole mission trying to get through it and just ended up at the room where there are 3 Taken snipers...that’s as far as I’m gonna be able to go without a team considering I’m not even 385. I am going to continue entering the mission however because that room (where the stone ledges have grass indicating where you should go) has an awesome soundtrack!
