PC performance issues

Recently upgraded my desktop from a GTX 970 (+i7 4790k) to a GTX 1080 (i7 4790k as well) and all my games run fantastically better, benchmarking tools reading about a 90% increase in gpu performance, except Destiny 2. Using the in game FPS measurement my FPS has improved by maybe about 5 on average with the same settings as before. I cannot consistently hit above more than maybe 70 fps (on my 1080p 144hz monitor) anywhere other than in orbit or in some social spaces. I have no similar performance issues whatsoever in any other game or benchmarking tool, and my GPU usage barely hits 70% with CPU usage hovering around 60% average while playing. I have tried vsync on vsync off framerate cap on and at multiple settings, framerate cap off, deleting cvars, scanning and repairing the game, completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game, as well as several reboots and a graphics driver reinstallation, graphics driver set to maximum performance mode. If it's possibly related I have a bug where ships in the tower teleport around all over the area where my roommates copy of the game the ships fly in "park" and fly away. All player movement is smooth and unhindered however and we both use the exact same half gigabit wired network. I'm really at my wits end for what's causing such abysmal performance in this game for me when most websites report never dipping below 100fps in the title with similar specifications. Edit- I'm also not in a clan at all as I've heard that caused issues previously in the title. also if it helps my FPS doubles when I go into lost sectors for some reason.

  • Hi. Thank you for your report! Could you please post DxDiag?

    • Can I at least get an email to send dxdiag or something to? Any bungie support beyond delete cvars and scan and repair the game?

    • There are no email addresses to email anything to and the only place you can post stuff is here in the help forum itself. And I know that you say you don't want to hear deleting the CVARS file but have you actually done that as of yet? Have you made sure that inside both the GeForce Application and GeForce Experience that it indicates that you are running a new GPU? (occasionally for some reason it will still be locked to the old GPU and it buggers up games) Are you running multiple monitors by chance? Have you run the optimization tool INSIDE the GeForce Experience to see what your optimized settings SHOULD be for Destiny 2? If you are attempting to max out your settings because you have a new GPU, you might be sorely disappointed as D2 is a GPU primarily driven game and it will cook your GPU pretty quick while your CPU barely gets warm. What settings ARE you running in D2? What RAM configuration are you running currently? What is your hard disk drive setup (number of drives, type of drives, etc. etc.) and where is Destiny 2 installed at?
