So, many people (me included) have suspected that we will see the Darkness (no longer redacted, happy Archival?) at the beginning of Destiny 3. I am not against this, I’m just a bit confused of how the story would work. We still have massive Hive and Vex problems, such as Xivu Arath, a bunch of worm gods and a shit load of Minds. What will happen to them? Will they just disappear when we defeat the Darkness? I’ve put a few scenarios together to help explain my point.
Scenario1: The Darkness comes and -blam!-s us up bad. We defeat the Darkness, the Light vanishes due to a symmetry misbalance, pentilions of Vex and Hive go with them. (D3 is Darkness)
Scenario2: In the beginning of Destiny 3, the Darkness hasn’t arrived yet. It would be a game with DLCs centered around defeating Hive and Vex and Taken. This would all culminate in a large content drop (maybe big ass DLC or even D4) that would involve the Darkness, -blam!-ing us up bad. (End of D3 or D4)
Scenario3: The Darkness comes and -blam!-s us up bad. Instead of defeating the Darkness, the threat lingers throughout Destiny 3. We defeat powerful Hive, Taken, and Darkness Champions with the Darkness lingering in the Sol system, until in one last content drop, we defeat the Darkness. (Lingering Threat)
Scenario4: The Darkness wins 😂.
Scenario5: Those ships are Savathûn!
Woah! Hold up! I’m kidding, alright! There is no way in hell that would be Savathûn, alright?
I formed a story I'd like to see, it involved retracing Oryx's steps, visiting the worlds of those hyper advanced civilisations from the BoS that gave Oryx et al a real fight, obtaining their tech etc, eventually leading to Fundament, and The Deep. It would be a nice change of pace getting on the front foot rather than waiting to be attacked! Story doesn't work so well now it seems they are already heading to us.
